FPL Captain Tips Gameweek 28 – CAPTAIN’S TABLE
Here we assemble the finest stats we can think of to get the best picture of who should wear the armband for your team.
It is a mix of current FPL form, historical goal scoring and assist form v opponents, relative FPL performance per their cost and points scored per minute. And this week we have taken some key stats found below (Chances, Key Passes, Touches inside Penalty Area, Shots on Target) and divided by the number of games.
Each category is given a weighting, and points assigned relative to that high point. Each category score is totaled for he final score.
The final is out of 100, with the no double game weeks, it makes the decision a little tougher than usual.
THE VERDICT
Bruno Fernandes tops the captain table this week, but he is looking a little more tired and unconvincing every week. Probably from carrying his team this season. But he is still always a factor and there’s always a penalty waiting to be taken.
Man City players don’t have a double gameweek for a change, but they are a team that have still only lost one game in months. And they were full of FPL points during the week against Southampton. At least Phil Foden got a game for a change.
They play Fulham this weekend, a fixture a few months ago that FPL players would have been rubbing their hands about, but Fulham are a much better side these days, as evidenced in their recent win over Liverpool.
Riyad Mahrez is their man of the moment right now, scoring and assisting and right up the top of the players for FPL points per minute. Minutes may be the key though, as Pep is hard to trust with his rotation. And Mahrez hasn’t scored a goal/assist v Fulham in two matches.
Gundogan is in our top seven, and always worth consideration. He is still the best value for FPL points x $M of cost, but with KDB back his impact is n’t quite so great.
Speaking of Kevin de Bruyne he doesn’t make our top seven captain picks this weekend, but his two goal haul v Southampton midweek shows he is always worth a thought.
Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are also good when given a chance, but who knows if they will play or not. Sergio Aguero has the week’s best opposition scoring rate, going at two goals/assists per game v Fulham. But that was a different Fulham and a slightly different Aguero.
Onto the North London derby and there’s a potential captain here. Gareth Bale is the Johnny-come-lately and rockets into number two on our Captains table, but how many people have him in their FPL side. Harry Kane is reliable as ever and always a fine choice for FPL captain. He has an excellent record of scoring v Arsenal and in form after last week.
A few left field choices of Mason Mount as they are playing Leeds, and there always seems to be goals with Leeds matches. Jamie Vardy is out of touch, but he is due anytime, and they play Sheffield Utd, and if you have him in your side you want to cash in.
FINAL VERDICT – Harry Kane or Bruno Fernandes for safety. Left field Mason Mount or Jamie Vardy
