THE VERDICT

There’s a few themes to go through before discussing specific players in our table above. You have to ask yourself some questions.

Will any Man City play both games in this DGW given they also played Champions League on Wednesday. Are Spurs fixtures really easy as they appear on paper given how woeful they have played at time recently? Can Liverpool be trusted to be good ever again? This is all before a lot of teams with featured players have played their Europa League.

Each player seems to have a good / bad point, so we’ll go through them below.

Bruno Fernandes looks a player who will feature in both games, because Man Utd looks much worse without him, and they need Champions League football. He is only just short of topping our Captain’s Table as it was. He leads the combined Magnificent Seven stats below, and is the leading FPL point scorer. The down side is his goals and assists against this weekend’s opponents.

Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are both rated highly in the Captain’s Table, with Gundogan the form player in the competition. As ever though, you are at the whim of Mr Rotation Pep. With Kevin de Bruyne coming back into the team this will surely affect some players time. But more likely to be Foden missing out than Gundogan. Sterling seems to be hit and miss with starts, although his recent form should see him get at least one start. Riyad Mahrez is going well too like many of the team who have won a million in a row, but Mahrez is even less reliable for game starts. All great players and FPL choices for captain, but can you trust Pep to give either the full two games?

Harvey Barnes and his Leicester team mates James Maddison  and Jamie Vardy have a decent DGW set of fixtures, and are in some decent form. Harvey Barnes may be the form man of the three for FPL, but Jamie Vardy is looking dangerous every week and is a streaky scorer, and you don’t want to miss out if he starts that streak this weekend. James Maddison would be considered more if he didn’t have an injury cloud hanging over him.

Harry Kane isn’t in our top five of the Captain’s Table, but he has suffered from absence and a team not going well. His form is well down on others but he looked decent in the second half last week against West Ham. Referring to the tables below, he and Dominic Calvert-Lewin top the table this week for goals and assists per game against this weekend’s opposition. Both are over one a game.

Final Verdict……

Going conservative for players who are likely to start twice, hence giving greater value for the effort, so we are suggesting Harry Kane or Bruno Fernandes.
