While the first week of the NRL finals is still in progress, Channel Nien have guaranteed who will play in the grand final.
It’ll be a Penrith Panthers v Sydney Roosters decider on Sunday, October 25.
“It’s the perfect grand final for our two most valued commentators in Brad Fittler and Phil Gould: Freddy played for both teams and coached the Roosters, while Gus coached the Panthers to their first premiership and also coached the Roosters,” said Nein CEO Hugh Marks. “They had a ball on Friday night [Penrith beat the Roosters in the qualifying final], so they want to make it happen again. I don’t blame them.”
“Freddy and Gus have already started ‘greasing the wheels’ to ensure they get their preferred grand final. Who else would you want to play? Everyone hates the low-rating Raiders; Freddy and Gus have arranged for Cam Smith to have an ‘accident’ so the Storm are knocked out in the prelim; and Parra, Souths, and Newcastle are all garbage!”
“With a Panthers v Roosters grand final, Nein viewers can sit back and be entertained by Freddy and Joey’s insightful and completely unbiased analysis. It’ll be so absorbing, you’ll forget there’s an actual footy game on.” said Marks. “I don’t care who wins, as the ratings will be through the roof in Sydney regardless, which is all that matters.”
“We’ve also started filming a special grand final pre-game piece with Freddy and Joey going over their career highlights for the Panthers and Roosters: it’ll be edited down to four hours, which is barely enough time to hear those fascinating stories,” added Marks.
