The new Fantasy Premier League season isn’t far away, and as ever there are three new sides to get to know for the upcoming season, so we offer our FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats.
The three sides coming up all offer something different, Leeds Utd with their Marcelo Bielsa energetic style will provide entertainment for as long as they can keep it up or teams don’t work them out quick enough. West Brom appear to be this season’s Sheffield Utd – no frills and solid all round.
Fulham will have a story of redemption, after doing a Fulham at their last Premier League attempt, and seeing Aston Villa nearly get relegated doing a Fulham last season, surely they will tread a more cautious path this time around. Led once again by Mitrovic, but also by the manager who was at the helm when they were relegated.
Featured below are various stats and analysis on the promoted teams, with top players for shots, goals, assists and key passes all featured.
Of course all these stats are for the Championship, and you can take them with a grain of salt. But let’s not forget Sheffield Utd from last season.
Worth noting in our FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats, that most of the stats are per game, but we have some 19/20 FPL stats to compare to.
FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats – Goals & Assists
Below is a selection of players stats for goals and assists.. Aleksandar Mitrovic leads the way for goals from the promoted teams, his 0.6 goals per game last season is only just behind the 0.7 goals per game from his breakout second half of the 17-18 season with Fulham when they were last promoted.
West Brom’s Matheus Pereira had KDB-esque assist stats in the Championship last season.
Patrick Bamford rates highly, but also has a poor EPL record unlike Mitrovic. Just one goals in 27 Premier League appearances for four different clubs.
Pablo Hernandez looks like the pick of the Leeds midfielders, and they may well get off to a good start. But will his age go against v experience he can bring?
You may notice stats for Grady Diangana who featured for West Brom last season, well West Ham sold him on the cheap, so is now worth considering, but at the same price as Pereira it would be a differential.
LAST SEASON FPL COMPARISONS
Given we’re using the per game method above, it’s always good to put those numbers into perspective, so last season’s best FPL results per game are below for goals and assists, and for other data further on.
FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats – Shots and Stuff
You can’t score without shooting, and here is the best of the shots statistics from last season’s promotion winning sides.
Mitrovic’s shots per game puts him just behind Salah but in front of Giroud and the rest.
Bamford is in line with KDB or Maupay for shots per game.

FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats – Assists
Top Championship assister Matheus Pereira from West Brom haul from last season was only bettered in the Championship by three Man City players and Bruno Fernandes.
Plenty of value in the midfield assist option, and not forgetting playoff final hero for Fulham – Joe Bryan who could be a decent value pick at the back.
FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats – Key Passes
Sometimes Goals and Assists don’t tell all the story, so our FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats
FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides Player Stats – Who Scored Rating
If the above stats aren’t enough, why not throw in the respective Who Scored ratings for each team.
FPL 2020/21 Promoted Sides – Summary
Aleksandar Mitrovic is the best bet for a Championship forward after an outstanding season in the Championship again in 19/20, and whilst the 6.0M isn’t dirt cheap, you have to look around at the other 6.0 strikers available – Moises Kean, Jodran Ayew, Ashley Barnes and Che Adams. Adams is not a bad comparison given his prolific scoring in the Championship in 18/19 which didn’t transfer to the EPL last season. For Mitrovic one shouldn’t forget that he managed 11 goals and 4 assists in 2018-19 in the awful Fulham side, and two seasons prior to that amassed a solid 103 FPL points as well. Possibly in tandem with Antonio from West Ham at 6.5M and a certain new Chelsea striker for a budget, but potentially blockbusting front three.
Matheus Pereira and Pablo Hernandez look the pick of the new midfielders, both priced at 6.0M. Whilst Pereira has the better stats from the Championship from last season, a doubt in the back of the mind is whether West Brom will provide as many opportunities in the Premier League as Leeds look like they will this season. Although they may or may not get a chance against Liverpool first up. Hernandez has played in the Premier League before, scoring 77 and 110 FPL points for Swansea back in 13/14 and 12/13. We say why not take both?
Matt Phillips is a great player, and has some decent stats behind him from last seaon for West Brom, but at 5.5M he is only 0.5M behind Matheus Pereira who had twice the stats last season.
Patrick Bamford will be a consideration for many, but his Premier League record is poor and that is a worry. This Leeds side may provide more opportunities for him to show his skills, to improve on his one goals in 27 EPL appearances. We aren’t buying though.
Callum Robinson arrive at West Brom on loan, and managed three goals and two assists in ten games, and he is returning to the Hawthorns this season, and is liekly to play plenty.
Grady Diangana also got decent stats at West Brom on loan last season, and is back for another season.
Luke Ayling is one of our picks for the defence on reputation, Leeds did concede the fewest goals in the Championship last season with 35 in 46 matches, and a record Clean Sheet streak of five last season. Fulham are hard to trust for defense after last time in the EPL, and they let in over a goal a game in the Championship. 4.5M is a good price. Ben White too was good for Leeds last season, but he heads back to parent club Brighton, but could end up back at Leeds. Either way is worth a thought.
Ollie Watkins has great stats in a very good Brentford side, that would have been FPL gold if they managed to beat Fulham in the Championship playoff. Watkins has moved to Aston Villa where you think he will be a starter most weeks given their strikers paltry returns last season. Could be a great differential from Mitrovic who has plenty of owners. Watkins will have Grealish and McGinn supplying him too, which is a better prospect than Fulham.
Eberechi Eze is a very exciting prospect with great stats for a ho-hum QPR side last season. One can look forward to the partnership with Zaha at Crystal Palace.
