The Gurgler has had an exclusive peak at the upcoming 2020 draw, and we have a shocking secret to reveal.
The Brisbane Broncos, thanks to Channel Nein, will play their remaining 18 games on Friday nights.
Nein allegedly held the NRL at ransom, saying they’d walk away if they didn’t get every Broncos game exclusively on their coveted prime time slot.
“Friday night’s the best night to watch footy,” said Nein CEO Hugh Marks. “Everyone’s excited for the weekend and ready to watch the greatest cash cow, I mean footy team, in Australian rugby league. Of course, it’ll be live and exclusive on the home of footy, Fox can get stuffed. Who needs pay TV when you can watch quality reality shows like Married at First Sight, The Block and LEGO Masters?”
“Honestly, Nein are arrogant bullies, but we need to show the footy on free-to-air so we don’t die in the arse like Super Rugby has,” said Peter V’landys, “So we let Nein have their precious Broncos because we can’t find anyone else at such short notice. They’d better lift their game though, because I’ll be talking to Seven and Ten in the off-season.”
Broncos coach Anthony Seibold isn’t happy about the news. “I know the boys prefer Sunday footy, but what can you do? Nein won’t have the footy too much longer, so we should get a few more day games when Seven or Ten take over. Something to look forward to.”
