The 2019-20 Premier League will see games on the 29th of February this weekend, so in honour of the rare day out our Alternative Week 28 EPL Predictions are based on teams stats from the last 5 leap years. Sadly, there were only a handful of games played in the last 20 years on Feb 29.
This week continues our different way of selecting Premier League winners. Some of them based on football stats, and some have a very obscure link to football or news events of that week.

Alternative Week 28 EPL Predictions – Last Minute Goals
Our theory is that teams that go better in the calendar year of a leap year are probably going to go better on Feb 29.
We have all the results for each team from 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 and come up with an average points scored.
For “fun” below, we have comparisons for EPL and all teams for their leap year performance and overall from the last 20 seasons.

From that preview, here are the best of the barely interesting stats from the full preview as a taster, and our proper selections.
- Norwich have won the last three midweek games between these sides, and haven’t lost a midweek games at home.
- Brighton v Crystal Palace was last played at Brighton on a Saturday in 1984 – 11 matches ago.
- Chelsea have a perfect record against teams in the bottom six when Chelsea have played them. Bournemouth have just 0.25 average points against the top six.
- Burnley have a perfect record against teams with black in their main kit.
- The fixture at West Ham has seen the scoreline of 3-0 in the past three games – two for West Ham and one for Southampton.
- In the past seven games at Watford, Liverpool have scored three goals five times and Watford twice.
- Spurs are unbeaten in games kicking off before 3pm v Wolves, same with Sundays.
- Man Utd have a very good record of 2.67 average points against sides with blue kits, where Everton have a much less impressive 1.00 average points per game against red kits.
