Premier League Week 18 Barely Interesting Stats
0-0 EVERTON-ARSENAL DRAWS
Sadly the early game for Week 18 was the Everton-Arsenal 0-0 draw, a shame that a match featuring two new managers watching on from the stands stunk so much, but thankfully they aren’t always that bad.
This was the first 0-0 between these sides since April 2013, and there have only been nine in total in over 200 matches.
WOLVES RECOVERY MISSIONS
Wolves are quite good at recovering after going behind, which is good as they gone behind 12 times this season. The 11 points they have won after going behind is a season high with Leicester (who have only gone behind 8 times). A lot of draws in that run of recovery – one win and eight draws.
For the record, Aston Villa have gone behind the most times this season, and only recovered twice for four points, which is more than eight other teams including Man Utd (3pts from 8 deficits) and Chelsea / Norwich (0 points from 6 / 12 deficits).
VARDY SCORES AND LEICESTER DON’T WIN FOR A CHANGE
Jamie Vardy continued his sensational scoring record in the 2019/20 season, but the difference this time was the goal didn’t end in a Foxes win.
This is the first time that a Vardy goal hasn’t saw three points for Leicester since March 2019 against Watford, one of Brendan Rodger’s first games in charge.
Who’d think he’d turn around Leicester so well.
Except against the big six teams away that is. So far in 2019/20 Leicester have played four big six sides away – the record is three losses and one draw.
MAN UNITED ARE NOT GOOD AGAINST LOWER RANKED SIDES AND IN LONDON
A well known fact that Man Utd aren’t going well against lower ranked sides this season, as they are found out to be creatively poor when their own opponents want to attack less.
Against the big six sides, and other top six sides (Wolves and Sheffield Utd), the record is two wins, three draws and five losses.
They have also lost both their away games in London. A worry with a lot of London teams left to visit, as the two they have seen so far are the lowest ranked sides from the capital.
QUICK HITS
Norwich have conceded the most shots at home.Aston Villa the most overall.
Wolves have scored in all but one away game.
Sheffield Utd are one of two sides that are unbeaten away this season. They have conceded the 2nd fewest amount of goals. Add their run of nine games unbeaten away from last season’s Championship too.
Burnley have been behind or drawing at half time in 83% of their games this season.
It took Miguel Almiron 48 shots to get his first goal for Newcastle.
Jack Grealish is the most fouled player this season by Fouls per minute. He is fouled every 19.4 minutes. Interestingly, is team mate Wesley has conceded the most fouls.
Gabriel Jesus scored is first goal at home since Jan 2019 against Wolves. e scored two that day. Man City play Wolves this week.
Chelsea’s win over Spurs was their first win against any big six side this season.
