Premier League Predictions Week 16 2019-20 v Shirt Sponsorship
Jersey Sponsorship in GBP listed.
Tipping Background
Every club will need money leading into the crucial January transfer window, so one big advantage is a valuable shirt sponsorship.
So for this week’s tipping method we say the club with the most lucrative sponsorship will be the happiest as they have the most money, so therefore more likely to win.

The barely interesting fact is just that, barely interesting. But takes in all competitions and cups.
EVERTON v CHELSEA

2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Everton will probably sack Marco Silva before we can go back and edit this, but the recent loss to Liverpool shouldn’t have been the final straw, that was against Norwich really. One wonders who they turn to next, a crucial appointment with the bottom three looming and a new stadium in the works.
Chelsea are the kings of playing the bottom teams, the midweek win over Aston Villa made it seven from seven against bottom six sides. Everton alternatviely are 0/3 against top six sides. Although it is hard to think against a demographic where they would be firing.
Chelsea are not the kings of coming from behind though, as only Chelsea and Norwich have failed to score a point after going behind. Although, Chelsea are going better than Norwich, going behind just four times compared to ten.
Everton have taken just seven points from the last 11 games, which is bottom three form.
Final Say:
Everton 1 Chelsea 3
Barely Interesting Stat:
Talking of form, the last six form table is crowded down the bottom, with seven teams on four points from six games (including Everton). Amazingly only Arsenal have failed to win a game in that run. All other teams have won at least once.
SPURS v BURNLEY
SATURDAY 3:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Jose continued his poor record at Old Trafford recently during the week, although at least it was now as the opposition manager. Burnley were torn apart by a red hot Man City, one wonders if any side would have lived with them in that mood.
Amazingly, Spurs have now conceded exactly two goals in every game Jose Mourinho has managed so far. Obviously, judging by the midweek loss, you can’t concede two goals every match and win.
Talking again of Mourinho, he has never lost to Burnley in seven games – four wins and three draws.
Burnley have lost five of their past seven games, only West Ham can equal that record. Although at Burnley won two in a row during that seven game run.
Burnley are yet to take a point from big six teams in four starts. But they do have more total FPL points than Spurs.
Final Say:
Spurs 4 Burnley 2
Barely Interesting Stat:
Burnley last won at Spurs back in 1983. That week Phil Collins was at the top of the music charts with Can’t Hurry Love.
Or Spurs have won both of their games against teams with a claret shirt and a gambling sponsor.
WATFORD v CRYSTAL PALACE
SATURDAY 3:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Watford are gunning for their own personal record of four managers in one season after the sacking of Quique Sánchez Flores. They didn’t look too bad against a strong Leicester side midweek, so perhaps the turned corner is not far away. Too far for the people that listened to our FPL tips. Bloody Gerard Deulofeu .
Crystal Palace were looking good before having a man sent off in the first half. Showing some spirit they still found enough for the win thanks to their new super goal scorer Jeffrey Schlupp.
Either side has a ordinary record against other London clubs, although Watford’s record is ordinary against everyone.
Final Say:
Watford 0 Crystal Palace 0
Barely Interesting Stat:
Getting a red card doesn’t seem to be a fait accompli that the team who gets it loses. Of the 21 red cards handed out this season, just nine teams have lost that game. There have been six wins and six draws from the other matches.
BOURNEMOUTH v LIVERPOOL
SATURDAY 3:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Liverpool wrapped up the Merseyside derby with a pile of goals midweek, and they are starting to look unbeatable at the top for the title. Talking of piles of goals, Bournemouth didn’t score against 10 men Crystal Palace last weekend. In fact they are the fourth side that couldn’t score against 10 man side this season.
Liverpool do seem to like playing at Bournemouth lately, their last two fixtures at the Vitality Stadium have ended in two 4-0 wins. The last four in all comps have ended in four Liverpool wins at the rate of 14-0.
Clean Sheets are the “problem” for Liverpool this season, not one since Round 7. Their seven goals conceded in the last six games in top four level defence, but they are a full six goals behind Leicester over the last six games.
Liverpool have conceded more goals at home than away this season.
One wonders if Bournemouth can recover from their dip in form, just one win in nine games and lost their past four games, which is a current streak record for this season.
Final Say:
Bournemouth 1 Liverpool 4
Barely Interesting Stat:
Liverpool did not beat Bournemouth in the 16-17 season, with a draw and a 4-3 loss.
MANCHESTER CITY v MANCHESTER UTD
SATURDAY 5:30PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
The premium clash in the Premier League, and both coming off impressive victories. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer buying some time for himself in this sacking season with by beating the man he replaced at Old Trafford. Man City looked quite good against Burnley, but are still 11 points behind in the title race as Liverpool give them nothing.
Manchester United have been poor on the road this season, just the one win to go with the three draws and losses each. However their record at Man City is not quite as bad as you would think. Going back 10 games at Man CIty between these two sides, Man Utd have won five times, and there was a draw.
Interestingly Man Utd have won 71 more fouls than Man City so far this season. And they have a better record against big six sides this season.
Both sides have 67% of their matches end with both sides scoring.
Final Say:
Man City 2 Man Utd 0
Barely Interesting Stat:
Man City have the biggest xG of any side in the top five European league. PSG and Bayern Munich come closest to the English side’s whopping 44 expected goals in 15 games.
NEWCASTLE v SOUTHAMPTON

H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
The Saints are certainly marching now, having found the magic to win at home, albeit against the worst two teams in the competitions. FPL favourite Danny Ings is getting among the goals, currently on a streak of four games of consecutive scoring.
Newcastle continue to annoy the big six, having already beaten Spurs and Man Utd this season, they held Man City to draw last weekend in possibly their biggest result so far.
Only Watford and Crystal Palace have scored fewer than Newcastle’s seven goals at home this season, but only Leicester have conceded fewer than their six. Newcastle are also on a run of six unbeaten at home – two wins and four draws.
Final Say:
Newcastle 2 Southampton 0
Barely Interesting Stat:
Southampton have won just one of their last six against Newcastle, and 3/19 at Newcastle.
NORWICH v SHEFFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 2:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Two sides going about the Premier League OK in their first year of promotion. Sheffield Utd heading down the path of the forever great Ipswich Town side of the early 2000’s which which in the top 5 for a lot of their first promotion season. We won’t talk about the following.
Norwich are looking better as their injury crisis subsides, and the party man himself Teemu Pukki is back to his partying way in front with goals for Everton. Rewarding those loyal Norwich fans, and FPL players.
Sheffield United are on a run of seven games without defeat, and they are seven without a loss away from home this season. Very impressive.
Final Say:
Norwich 1 Sheffield Utd 1
Barely Interesting Stat:
Despite being beaten to the Championship title last season, Sheffield Utd got a win and a draw against second tier Champions Norwich.
Sheffield Utd have scored exactly two goals in their last three games away to Norwich. The record is 1-1-1.
ASTON VILLA v LEICESTER
SUNDAY 2:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Leicester’s winning run edged out to seven after a solid win over Watford midweek, and they have the chance to equal the season high record set by Liverpool of eight this weekend.
Jamie Vardy’s scoring run is also on seven games, and shows no signs of stopping. Which is good because they have won every games where he has scored, and won 1/5 when he doesn’t.
Comparing the team’s performances against the other end of the table, Aston Villa haven’t got a point yet against the top six, where Leicester have a great average of 2.7 across their matches against bottom six sides.
Leicester are now the clean sheet kings with seven, and have conceded the equal fewest goals away from home.
Aston Villa have the second highest Shots on Target ratio, which will test the Leicester defence.
Final Say:
Aston Villa 0 Leicester 3
Barely Interesting Fact:
The away side has yet to win this fixture on a Sunday.
BRIGHTON v WOLVES
SUNDAY 4:30PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
Wolves are going along quite nicely, their unbeaten streak stretches out to ten games. In fact, if you look at the table from November 1, Wolves would be third.
The two sides above Leicester in that form table are the top two sides Liverpool and Leicester. The two most recent teams Brighton have played and been beaten by. (at time of writing this)
Brighton have the worst Shots on Target % of all the Premier League sides this season at 26.3%.
xG has Wolves all worked out with the correct xG for goals for and against and expected points.
80% of Wolves games has seen both sides score. And have only conceded more than one goal twice. Both of those ended up with a loss.
Final Say:
Brighton 1 Wolves 1
Barely Interesting Fact:
Wolves have only beaten Brighton once in their last 10 clashes across two divisions.
WEST HAM v ARSENAL
MONDAY 8:00PM
H2H STATS – Last 10 Seasons
2019-20 FORM COMPARISON
THOUGHTS & STUFF
As ever West Ham are one of the hardest sides to predict, with an outstanding 1-0 win at Chelsea followed up by a regulation 2-0 at Wolves. They probably won’t be too far off in copying their opponent Arsenal in getting a new manager. Or maybe West Ham will actually get a new manager, not a token interim boss which is working so well at Man Utd.
Arsenal haven’t been able to beat two bottom three sides in consecutive weeks, and get a chance to beat a team which was in bottom three form before the win at Chelsea.
Despite playing bad enough to get their manager sacked, Arsenal have only lost twice from week four onwards, which is the same amount of losses as Leicester and Wolves, and of course two more than Liverpool. Every other team has lost more games. There have been seven draws in that run. Five of those seven draws have been (Desmond) 2-2, and the other two 1-1. Good one for Pools players if that still exists.
West Ham have won both of their London games away from home. Which doesn’t help here, as they have lost both of their home games against London teams.
Final Say:
West Ham 0 Arsenal 1
Barely Interesting Fact:
We thought it was a great time to look at the London Cup – a table for games between London sides. Using average points for now.
