Wondering which Premier League side has the easiest or hardest set of upcoming fixtures? Well allow us to present our Week 14 Premier League Fixtures Difficulty Rating.
Proud partners of The Gurgler – S&C Sports Data – have come up with a measure to judge the difficulty factor for each team over the next three games. Not just with current table position, but historical results and more.
We could go further, but we think three games provides just enough window for FPL players, late night sports fans in Australia and around the world, or multi loving gamblers alike.
How our Premier League Fixtures Difficulty Rating works….
S&C Sports Data have data from 10 seasons of Premier League, and created a measure of each team’s head to head record over that period, on a sliding scale from current day backwards.
Then the team in question and the opposition’s overall and recent form is taken into consideration, including measuring the relative form of the two sides.
The Match Rater 3000 score is then produced, with a range of 1 being the easiest possible fixture up to 10 for the hardest.
So the S&C measure combines many fields to give an overall picture for the next three games.
Week 14 Premier League Fixtures Difficulty Rating Overall Results
- Everton have an almost perfect trio of ten rated games. Just to highlight just how bad things look for their manager Marco Silva. He’ll probably be gone before this weekend’s fixtures.
- Fellow strugglers West Ham don’t fare much better with an average of 8/10 for the next three games.
- Southampton have a decent chance to turn things around, as do Watford. Arsenal too look forward to an easier run. Although an easy game on paper didn’t help Arsenal last weekend.
- Just in time for Jose’s new arrival at Tottenham, Spurs have their easiest three games run for a while, if not the whole season.

Which team in Overperforming / Underperforming against our Difficulty Rating?
We have gone back through our difficulty ratings so far this season, and worked out the potential points each team could have scored, and then have a comparison ready for mild interest.
Our predictions based on the difficulty rating have 50% within 3 points of their actual points tally after 12 matches, so not bad.
Our predictions were a little hard on Newcastle and Southampton, but no surprise that Sheffield Utd are out-performing our predictions.
At the other end some big names are underperforming. Man City and Chelsea’s difficulty rating was possibly a little too high.

For Arsenal, Southampton and Watford things don’t look too bad over the next three fixtures.
Everton’s next three could hardly be more difficult, and West Ham’s aren’t much easier. However easy games aren’t always best, especially if you don’t win the game you are expected to.
One would expect not to see at least two of these managers over the next few weeks.
