Premier League Week 13 Best & Blurst

BEST PERFORMANCE

SPURS v West Ham

Open their Mourinho account with a fine win. Although the two goals against would be a big worry.

BEST GAME

Crystal Palace v Liverpool

DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE WEEK

Watford – they looked on the turn to good times until this result.

Manchester United’s comeback against Sheffield Utd only to allow them a third goal.

SURPRISE OF THE WEEK

Norwich beating Everton and manager Marco Silva keeping his job on Sunday.

Southampton almost getting all three points at Arsenal.

Premier League Week 13 Barely Interesting Stats

VARDY ON A ROLL, BUT NOT AGAINST THE TOP SIDES

Jamie Vardy is having some time this season, scoring 12 goals in total, and currently on a roll of scoring in five games in row – which has produced seven goals. Those seven goals in the last five games are more than nine other Premier League team’s total goals.

He still has a way to go to beat the consecutive scoring record of 11 games from the Foxes Premiership season.

Vardy has scored in 8 of the 13 matches so far this season.

Interestingly, in the past he had a slightly better strike rate against the big sides, but not so this season. His five goal-less games have all come against teams that finished in the top seven of last season’s Premier League.

The final word – every game that Jamie Vardy has scored in, Leicester have won this season. So we wish for him to score early and score often.

KANE / SON REALLY DO ENJOY PLAYING AGAINST WEST HAM

Kane and Son were among the goals at West Ham giving Jose Mourinho a great start to his Spurs managerial career. No surprise for Kane and Son given their previous record v West Ham.

After the weekend, the pair have a combined 12 goals and 7 assists in 18 games v West Ham.

WOLVES UNDER THE RADAR

Wolves are up to 5th, a sensational effort after a poor start to the season and Europa League getting in the way.

They have lost just the two games, equal with Leicester and only behind Liverpool.

Their unbeaten run of 8 games in the Premier League is the second longest behind the leaders.

LATE GOALS FOR LIVERPOOL v CRYSTAL PALACE

Liverpool have made a habit of scoring late goals against Crystal Palace. Often the late goal is a winner.

Here’s the break down of the last goals scored by Liverpool v Crystal Palace.

19/20 – 85′ – Winner
18/19 – 90+2′ – to lead 2-0
18/19 – 90+2′ – to lead 4-2
17/18 – 84′ – Winner
17/18 – 73′ – Winner

Interestingly either one of or a combination of Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane have been involved in all the goals. Mo Salah has also been involved twice.

MANCHESTER UNITED HAVEN’T CONCEDED 3 GOALS AGAINST A PROMOTED SIDE SINCE…..

Sunday, Sep 21 2014.  Leicester City 5 Manchester United 3.

Newly promoted Leicester scored a decent 5-3 win over United in September, that day a certain Jamie Vardy scored one goal and provided two assists.

A few months later Leicester were bottom of the table at the end of December. They survived, and produced the most remarkable upset in modern football the following season.

QUICK HITS

Leicester have four clean sheets in a row – a season high.

Mourinho continued a great record against West Ham and Manuel Pelligrini. Mourinho v West Ham is 17 starts – 12 wins – 3 draws – 2 losses @ 2.4 average points per game, and against Pelligrini is 15 starts – 8 wins – 3 draws – 4 losses.

Burnley have scored at least one goal in 6/7 away games this season. They are also halfway to matching last season’s effort of scoring three goals away from home. April v Bournemouth and February v Brighton.

Watford have conceded 3 Goals at home three times this weekend. And against lower ranked sides Brighton, Burnley and West Ham. No a good sign before some of the big teams visit.

Arsenal are only one of three teams unbeaten at home. The other two are Liverpool and Leicester. Although, Burnley and Leicester have more average points at home.
