TIPS BACKGROUND: Since newly selected Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in the news in the UK all the time, why not base some Premier League tips on him. All we have done is take the results from this Sky poll, where people were asked how optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the UK now Boris Johnson is Prime Minister? We say, whoever is more optimistic are happier now, so that happiness will transfer into their local team. Note: results are only in region, so explains the draws.

2019-20 Premier League Predictions Week 3 – GAME BY GAME PREVIEW

Here’s our match by match review and our own Premier League Predictions Week 3. With loads of stats as below. But keep in mind the following…

All stats are based on the last 10 years of Premier Leagues fixtures, except where stated.

The match rating is our thoughts on how exciting a neutral should get about the game. We rank it by if it is a great rivalry, whether at least one of the teams are in good form, whether they play decent football or dross, and general interest. Whether the team has a star player, crazy manager, give away lots of red cards, or have a Rene Higuita style goalkeeper. We wish anyway. Each field is rated out of five and the grand total out of 20.

Last 5 matches are Premier League fixtures only. The graphic stats are all Premier League only.

The barely interesting fact is just that, barely interesting. But takes in all competitions.

ASTON VILLA v EVERTON

FRIDAY 8:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING (out of 20)

No real rivalry after years in different divisions, and neither team’s form and style bring too much or too little interest.

MATCH STATS

Loads of goals in these encounters, and if you a little further back than the five games listed above, a lot of score draws.

POINTS OF INTEREST

We’re still waiting for the beast that Moises Kean to be fully unleashed.

Will Everton concede a goal?

Aston Villa actually looked quite good in attack last weekend, but their defence is questionable. So luckily for all of Everton’s defensive qualities, they have only scored once this season, and not likely to score many more.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

Everton are the only team in the Premier League not to concede so far in 2019-20. But did you know that if you go back to March last season, and include this season, only Manchester City has conceded fewer goals. They are the only team in the whole Football League not to concede yet, but as the EFL teams have played four, that is kind of cheating.

OUR FINAL SAY

Aston Villa 1 Everton 1

BEST BET

Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.67

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

Aside from the obvious Everton defender, Grealish and McGinn looked great last weekend for Aston Villa and ready to score.

NORWICH CITY v CHELSEA

SATURDAY 12:30pm

OUR MATCH RATING

No rivalry but plenty of interest. Chelsea under Frank Lampard is a new experience, and everyone is quite rightly enjoying the Pukki party. Both teams play decent football too. A nice early kick off.

MATCH STATS

Norwich haven’t beaten Chelsea in any of their EPL adventures in the last 10 seasons, but the time has never been more right to do so.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Pukki – scores against one of the League’s best defences. Scores three against one of the more ordinary. Common theme is goals. He may well enjoy playing Chelsea.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount was one of their best last weekend, on the same weekend as Derby teammate from last season – Harry Wilson – scores a screamer. The rise of such young players finally getting a proper go in the Premier League is great,

The manager for very different reasons. Daniel Farke looks like a bit of a gangster. In a good way.

Tammy Abraham has a direct comparison in Pukki for goalscorers from last year’s Championship. Perhaps the second tier is his ceiling.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

The last two games between these sides ended up in draws – the FA Cup from 2017-18. And since 2000, Norwich have scored as many goals against Chelsea home and away – three.

OUR FINAL SAY

Norwich 2 Chelsea 1

BEST BET

Both teams to score @ $1.53

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

Time for a Pukki party. And why not grab a midfielder while you’re there. Cantwell was great last week, but we like Stiepermann. Keeping a eye on Mount for value for a couple of weeks time.

SHEFFIELD UNITED v LEICESTER CITY

SATURDAY 3:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING

Both teams are undefeated, but with three draws between them. We like the cut of both team’s jib, and are both interesting stories of teams on the up.

MATCH STATS

No H2H Record in EPL last 10 seasons. The overall is as close as it gets.

Overall – Sheff Utd 31 – Draw 32 – Leicester 31

Last met in FA Cup and League Cup in 17-18. Leicester won both 1-0 and 4-1.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Sheffield United look like the most quietly competent side to be promoted this season, but Leicester is their biggest test yet.

Leicester have put some good patches together in their first two games so far, so the question is when they do it for a full game. Their claims on breaking into the top six are genuine.

Leicester’s midfield.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

These teams have both played in League One in the past decade, but last met in the League (Championship) in 2011.

OUR FINAL SAY

Sheffield Utd 1 Leicester 2

BEST BET

Leicester to win second half @ $2.50

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

All talk is about John Lundstram and rightly so. But keep Luke Freeman in mind. Double figure goal/assist returns in the past few Championship season in an average QPR side.

MANCHESTER UTD v CRYSTAL PALACE

SATURDAY 3:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING

At least Man Utd are in semi-decent form, and are interesting on the field with arguments over penalties. There’s no doubt who gets to take penalties for Crystal Palace. If they can get close enough to get one.

MATCH STATS

Not great reading for Crystal Palace in the last ten season v Man Utd. Although they did draw at Old Trafford last season when Man Utd at their very worst with Jose.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Seeing if Man Utd are really not that bad this season.

See if Crystal Palace are putting together a relegation season.

About time we saw them Zaha magic.

Talking of want-away, will this be Pogba’s last game for Man Utd. Would he be missed?

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

The last time Crystal Palace beat Man Utd at Old Trafford was in the League Cup in 2011. Before then it was 1989 in the old first division (before Premier League) in 1989.

OUR FINAL SAY

Manchester United 3 Crystal Palace 0

BEST BET

Man Utd -1.0 Handicap @ $2.00

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

Martial In. And maybe throw in a Man Utd defender.

BRIGHTON v SOUTHAMPTON

SATURDAY 3:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING

A real middle of the road match for two teams hoping to be just that. Although Brighton’s bright start to the season has seen the match score a little higher than usual.

MATCH STATS

Southampton have won the only Saturday EPL clash from the past 10 seasons.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Brighton were quite impressive last weekend, despite drawing with West Ham. They probably have four more points than most thought they would at the start of the year.

Perhaps Graham Potter is a managerial genius.

A decent outing from new recruit Leandro Trossard last weekend, so let’s see the follow up. He scored one and had another disallowed.

Southampton went OK against Liverpool last weekend, but they need points soon.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

Brighton’s four points in two games is ahead of the three points they won in the last nine games at the end of last season.

OUR FINAL SAY

Brighton 2 Southampton 1

BEST BET

Brighton to win @ $2.40

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

Highly impressed by Brighton’s Dan Burn last weekend. And he’s cheap.

WATFORD v WEST HAM

SATURDAY 3:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING

The lowest rated game of the weekend. It will probably come out and surprise us. Or not. Gets a three for rivalry as they are both from London, and could be scrapping at the bottom third of the ladder on current form.

MATCH STATS

Games went with the away teams last season, and home teams the year before that. Watford have a 50% or more advantage on Saturdays and at home.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Two teams that have underwhelmed thus far, and we’re not quite sure if there is a point of interest. West Ham are traditionally hard to predict though.

Will West Ham’s super signing Haller play?

Any goals? West Ham (1) have scored one more than Watford (0)

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

The last ten games have seen two goals or more.

OUR FINAL SAY

Watford 0 West Ham 0

BEST BET

Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.67

LIVERPOOL v ARSENAL

SATURDAY 5:30pm

OUR MATCH RATING

The premium clash of the weekend. Both teams 100% after 2 games, Arsenal’s first time of doing that in a decade.

MATCH STATS

Plenty of goals, but the split is not as much Liverpool as you might think. Especially at home. Although Arsenal don’t seem t enjoy playing Liverpool in August.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Mane and Salah, Aubameyang in no particular order.

Adrian’s bounce back from last weekend.

Arsenal’s Ceballos looked great last weekend, the U21 Spanish star living up to the potential for at least one week.

At least one of these teams won’t be 100% after this weekend, but who will it be? Will it be old or new Arsenal this weekend.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

There have been 30 goals scored in the last six Liverpool home games.

OUR FINAL SAY

Liverpool 2 Arsenal 1

BEST BET

Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.40

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL TIP

Mane v Salah or both. Can you afford to have two Liverpool players this season? Ceballos is one we think it may be worth having a punt on.

BOURNEMOUTH v MANCHESTER CITY

SUNDAY 2:00pm

OUR MATCH RATING

Most of the points are mostly down to Manchester City.

MATCH STATS

All Sky Blue as Bournemouth look for their first win over City. Although, Man City’s record at Bournemouth is a little modest compared to their record against other teams.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Kevin de Bruyne

Can City escape a VAR decision this weekend?

Harry Wilson scoring another cracking goal.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

Bournemouth have never beaten Manchester City (12 Losses – 2 Draws)

OUR FINAL SAY

Bournemouth 0 Man City 3

BEST BET

Both teams to Score – No @ $1.91

WOLVES v BURNLEY

SATURDAY 4:30pm

OUR MATCH RATING

Possibly a little low for two teams going OK to start the year.

MATCH STATS

A 100% record for Wolves in the past 10 EPL seasons at home to Burnley and on Sundays. Although the last clash went the way of Burnley, and it is arguable who is going better after two games.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Ashley Barnes continues to score, and score.

Wolves held their own against Man Utd last weekend, but it was their record against the lower ranked sides that cost them last season. Here is the first chance to see if that has improved.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

You have to go back to 2010 for when Wolves last beat Burnley on a Saturday in all comps.

OUR FINAL SAY

Wolves 1 Burnley 1

BEST BET

Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.60

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL BIT

Jota is becoming a point of frustration. Scoring loads of goals in pre season and Europa League, but looking a little ordinary in the Premier League.

SPURS v NEWCASTLE

SATURDAY 4:30pm

OUR MATCH RATING

The threes are all courtesy of Spurs. Newcastle aren’t offering much to anyone at the moment.

MATCH STATS

Newcastle’s record v Spurs isn’t quite as bad as you would think. Especially on a Sunday for some reason.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Spurs somehow got a point last weekend at Manchester City, so a home game against Newcastle should be immeasurably easier.

Newcastle look in real danger. Norwich are a good side, but it is a worry when the established EPL side is getting battered by the promoted side.

BARELY INTERESTING FACT

As above – Newcastle have a 57% winning record v Spurs on a Sunday.

OUR FINAL SAY

Spurs 3 Newcastle 0

BEST BET

Both Teams Score – No @ $1.72

QUICK FPL FANTASY FOOTBALL BIT

Ndombele keeps scoring, but will it continue?
