You’ll only need one or two, so we’d better make our selection to you from Norwich City, Sheffield Untied and Aston Villa count for our potential Promoted teams FPL players

So enjoy our thoughts , and why not catch up on some of our previous work.

2019-20 FPL BIG QUESTIONS

2019-20 FPL DIFFERENTIALS – First 10 Teams

2019-20 FPL DIFFERENTIALS – Next 10 Teams

Potential Promoted Teams FPL players – NORWICH CITY

The Canaries did it so well in the Championship last season, scoring 93 goals on the way to the title, but their defense was only upper midfield.

So we say to limit your potential promoted teams FPL players from Norwich to the top shelf Finnish finisher Teemu Pukki, or a range of good, cheap options in the midfield.

FWD – Teemu Pukki

Cost 6.5 / Selected by 4.1%

Last season: Games: 43 – Goals: 29 – Assists: 10

The big question is whether those goals, coming at 120 minutes a piece, can continue at the highest level. Other good second tier goal scorers haven’t quite made the EPL cut, but you get the feeling that Pukki will deliver at least half that total. And Norwich look set up to at least try and score goals this season. Norwich did tend to score a lot of late goals last season.

MID – Emiliano Buendía

Cost 6.0 / Selected by 0.7%

Last season: Games: 38 – Goals: 8 – Assists: 12

A decent return for the Argentine Canary in 2018-19, and he pulled similar numbers the season before in Spain’s La Liga 2. Mostly effective on the right with a solid 17 assists in 45 games in that position.

MID – Marco Stiepermann

Cost 5.5 / Selected by 0.2%

Last season: Games: 43 – Goals: 9 – Assists: 8

The former Borussia Dortmund junior did a decent job for Norwich last season, and having watched a bit of EFL, he always seemed to be involved in much of the action for Norwich. One of those payers who always seemed to be doing something. He may be less popular than a few other Norwich midfielders, but we think at 5.5 he’ll be good value. Does his best work in the middle of the pitch, and has the ability for big points, scoring 39 goals and 14 assists in 50 games for Dortmund U/19 in his career. EPL is of course a step up, but good to know that he can produce those numbers.

MID – Onel Hernández

Cost 5.5 / Selected by 0.3%

Last season: Games: 40 – Goals: 8 – Assists: 10

Cuba’s first EPL player is a reason to take interest in Hernandez on the human side, as for FPL he had some decent returns in the Championship last year like most of his Norwich midfield companions. Although 2018-19 was his second season in the Championship, and his returns weren’t the season before – just 2 assists in 12 matches. Perhaps it just took time to get up to speed in England after a mid season transfer, time is not on his side for making an EPL/FPL impact. In saying that, he has been in and out of our FPL team sometimes already this pre-season.

MID – Mario Vrancic

Cost 6.5 / Selected by 0.4%

Last season: Games: 36 – Goals: 10 – Assists: 7

Another player in the Norwich midfield with similar goals/assists, proving just how any one of these players could be a great back up in an FPL team this season.

Perhaps his disadvantage is the price – higher than the others, with almost the same stats.

His 2017-18 first season with Norwich was not quite as good, with just 2 goals and one assist.

OUR PICK: One of the midfielders could be a good, cheap option to have on the bench, and Pukki is worth including after the first five games.

Potential Promoted Teams FPL players – SHEFFIELD UNITED

The Blades quietly went about promotion last season, and although they are one of the favourites to go down, and have the lowest current market value from the great website Transfermarkt, there is sill some decent talent on offer. Some are worthy of FPL consideration.

GK – DEAN HENDERSON

Cost 4.5 / Selected by 1.0%

Last season: Games: 46 – Clean Sheets: 21

Sheffield Utd conceded the lowest amount of goals in the Championship last season (alongside Midlesbrough) and the Blades shipped 16 fewer goals than Norwich and 20 less than Aston Villa. On loan from Man Utd Dean Henderson was the man between the sticks last campaign, and he ended the season with a very respectable 21 clean sheets from 46 games. Of course Sheffield Utd won’t get as many of those this season in the EPL, but there is evidence there of a side who know how to defend.

MID – LUKE FREEMAN

Cost 5.5 / Selected by 0.2%

Last season: Games: 43 – Goals: 8 – Assists 6

Freeman did play in the Championship last season, but did so for Queens Park Rangers, but caught the eye enough to get a chance with Sheffield Utd for the upcoming EPL season. A decent return for him last season for QPR, and he had an even better season the on before with 5 goals and 12 assists. Good for an assist every four games when playing as an attacking midfielder up the middle.

DEF – JACK O’CONNELL

Cost 4.5 / Selected by 0.5%

Last season: Games: 41 – Goals: 3 – Assists 4

Given the dolphin arse-like tightness to the Sheffield Utd defense, you’d be mad not to look to a defender or two for the upcoming promoted Teams FPL Players list. Centre back Jack O’Connell played in 41 of the Blades games last season, and chimed in with some goals and assists. And if Sheffield Utd can get half the clean sheet of last season, then O’Connell or any other regular Sheffield Utd defender could be worth a look.

FWD – BILLY SHARP

Cost 6.0 / Selected by 1.5%

Last season: Games: 40 – Goals: 23 – Assists 4

An old fashioned centre forward who has scored double figure goals in just about every season he has played in. Most of them in the Championship, He did get a brief go with Southampton where he played a total of 18 minutes in 2 games. He is someone we’d back to get 10 goals this year if he stays fit, and is a great option at 6.0. But get in early or wait until week 14 given their run of games between week 3 and 13.

FWD – OLIVER McBURNIE

Cost TBC / Selected by TBC

Last season: Games: 42 – Goals: 22 – Assists 4

It seems counter-intuitive to talk up Billy Sharp, and then offer up someone with as many stats last season, and who is much younger, but FPL is a dog eat dog world when it comes to getting the right player. McBurnie’s move to Sheffield Utd ensures that his former club Swansea have been pillaged of all their big young stars, and the Blades have a good one here. He had been with Swansea for a number of seasons, scoring double figure return in the EPL2 competition before doing it for real in the Championship last season. Like Sharp is a centre forward, so sadly probably won’t see them play in the same side that much.

OUR PICK: Dean Henderson should be included as the number two goalkeeper. He’s in our team. Keep an eye on the price for McBurnie.

Potential Promoted Teams FPL players – ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa got promoted via the Playoff Final, and despite spending a pile of money in the transfer window are adamant they are not doing a Fulham. That’s probably true as the signings look relatively smart. But like Fulham last year, there’s plenty to choose from. Here’s our top five to round out the the top five Potential Promoted Teams FPL players list. Problem is they conceded 61 goals in the Championship last season, so can you look further back than the midfield?

MID – JACK GREALISH

Cost 6.0 / Selected by 8.0%

Last season: Games: 31 – Goals: 6 – Assists 6

Grealish is the best known of the Aston Villa players coming into the new season, and he is certainly one of their best. Good enough to have almost been a Spurs player a season ago. But for all his quality, the question is whether he’ll be FPL Gold. His return of 6 / 6 last season is relatively modest, but we was injured for a chunk of the season. But he could just be one of those great players who quite get the FPL points. Although, it must be remembered his outstanding effort in the big derby against Birmingham last season where he scored the only goal after a fan ran onto the field and hit him. The EPL may be nicer place to live.

MID – JOHN McGINN

Cost 5.5 / Selected by 2.3%

Last season: Games: 40 – Goals: 6 – Assists 10

A player Sir Alex Ferguson was telling Man Utd to look into, so on that advice, certainly worth you considering for your FPL team. Slightly cheaper and with slightly better stats than Jack Grealish, he could be the go to of the dynamic midfielders from Villa.

DEF – TYRONE MINGS

Cost 4.5/ Selected by 1.9%

Last season: Games: 15 – Goals: 2 – Assists 0

Some may recall Mings’  in the Premier League previously with Bournemouth giving Zlatan the irits at Old Trafford, and he his mid season arrival at Aston Villa was one of the big drivers towards promotion. Signed in the off season for over 20M, he now has to live up to the hype. Aston Villa goals conceded per game did drop from 1.5 to 1.1 after Mings’ arrival in January.

MID – JOTA

Cost 6.0 / Selected by 0.4%

Last season: Games: 40 – Goals: 3 – Assists 9

One good Jota deserves another.  We wonder how many people will sign up the Aston Villa man to their FPL alongside the other Jota for Wolves for fun. Signed from local rivals Birmingham in the transfer window, he is most effective on the right throughout his career. You are taking on potential, as Grealish and McGinn provide better value, but someone worth considering.

MID – TREZEGUET

Cost 5.5 / Selected by 3.3%

Last season: Games: 34 – Goals: 9 – Assists 9 (for Kasimpasa, Turkish SuperLig)

As much as Aston Villa are not doing a Fulham, this looks a signing like a Fulham one. Decent returns last season of 9/9, and he is an Egyptian international, but it was the Turkish SuperLig, and recent converts from Turkey haven’t exactly worked out. Still one to watch.

Our Pick – McGinn is in.
