2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials Preview – The Next 10 Clubs

Here is part two of our 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials Preview, and for this part we go through the potential differentials for the next EPL sides that didn’t make our first part – 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials Preview – The Top 10 Clubs.

Not everyone can have Sterling, Salah, Aguero, two Liverpool defenders and more superstars. And unlike most big European football club FPL players have to balance the books.

Like our first part did with the big clubs, hopefully our 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials Preview provides at least a bit of thought on that. And with the promoted clubs there is extra value, and extra differentials

Following on from our preview where we asked the Big Questions ahead of the 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League season, is our Part 2 of the 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials Preview, where there are bargains to be had.

Watford are one of the great differential sides for FPL players, get one or two of them right at the beginning of the season and you’ve built a good platform for point thereafter.

Watford usually start the season off well too, so an early gem might get you in front of the pack early. Here are the early season Watford stats.

WATFORD RECENT STARTS TO THE SEASON – August + September

18-19 – 6th – 13 points – 7 Games – 4W 1D 2L

17-18 – 5th – 12 points – 7 games – 3W 3D 1L

16-17 – 11th – 7 points – 6 games – 2W 1D 3L

15-16 – 13th – 9 points – 7 games – 2W 3D 2L

But why take Pereyra? Well he did finish in the top five points scorer for Watford last season, and his 6.0M price tag is cheap enough, although the same price as another great Watford differential Abdoulaye Doucouré. In fact both players are excellent choices, scored almost the same points last season, and feature in most of Watford games.

We’re going with Pereyra on the back of his five goals in the first 10 games for Watford last season. If you’re only going to take a Watford player early because of the Hornet’s good early starts, may as well get the player whose points were heavily weighted towards the front end of the season,

OK, by now we have to declare our allegiance to Ipswich Town, which will explain why occasionally we’ll tip former Tractor Boys as FPL inclusions. Perhaps it is as close as Ipswich will get to the EPL/FPL.

But one shouldn’t dismiss Andros Townsend for our crime of Ipswich bias, he is a great potential differential.

A look at the chart below shows that Townsend is in the top six for chances created for players outside the big six teams.

And he loves to score a spectacular goal. His effort last year (watch the Youtube clip below) should have won goal of the season.

Another 6.0M midfielder, and another real talent that needs to be taken on faith. But he did show real signs of quality in the second half of the season.

The former superstar of the MLS in the US transferred to Newcastle in January, and he looked lively in every game he featured in, but the point scoring never came.

The problem is for all the potential, he is playing in a Newcastle that looks much worse than last season, so will he have even less chance to shine this season.

He liked to have a shot, and his strike rate of 42% shot accuracy was Newcastle’s third best for the season.

It’s probably hard to take him at 6.0 against some of the more proven point scorer above and elsewhere,

But we just get the feeling that he may go berserk at some stage this season with consecutive double figure hauls, and it would be nice to be among those points.

Time for a real cheapie.

Fresh from third division premiers Luton Town to a Bournemouth side that knows how to turn lower league players into point scoring machines.

It may take time for Jack Stacey, and the question will be whether he will get a start, but perhaps Eddie Howe may go with some youth at the back to combat the second half season drift from last season.

Jack Stacey  secured four goals and eight assists from the back last season, and his Luton Town team ended the season with a clean sheet % of 43%, which was behind the EPL top two, third div runners up Barnsley and recently EPL promoted Sheffield Utd.

A risk that he won’t play, less of a risk that he will score points if he does play.

You may remember Jay Rodriguez from a couple of near miss seasons with West Bromwich Albion and Southampton, where in fairness he showed some real quality. He scored 15 goals for Southampton in 13/14, and even got 21 goals/assists combined in his last stint for Burnley before that.

So why does that matter now?

Well, Rodriguez stayed with WBA last season, and produced a great season for one of English football’s highest scoring teams. The return was 22 goals and 5 assists for West Brom, who made the playoffs but fell at the first leg.

WBA’s reward is another season in the Championship, but Rodriguez did enough to earn another (perhaps final) crack at the EPL.

We will soon see if Championship strikers can continue their hot form into the EPL, as there are quite a few graduates this season, but Rodriguez’s previous efforts in the EPL show that he is capable at this level,. It is now whether he gets the chance against the incumbent forwards for Burnley. The 6.0M price tag is a little put off for a player who probably won’t start the season.

One good Championship player deserves another, so please accept Che Adams.

Another Championship player to take on faith, but it is hard to argue with 22 goals and 5 assists in Europe’s toughest leagues.

And it is not as if the interest in Adams is a one off for Southampton, they were super keen in the January transfer window too. His goals ensured that Birmingham City’s points penalty didn’t cost them league status, and so is rewarded himself with the EPL move.

Southampton could really do with a forward who stays fit and scores goals. Adams played 46 games last season in the Championship.

Just 1.4% have taken the plunge so far, but Adams has scored in pre-season, and is one of the first we’ll select for the season ahead.

There were very few good stories for Brighton by the end of the season, they survived, but only just.

They recruited heavily before last season, and it is safe to say that it didn’t quite work out.

But new coach in graham Potter (freshly stolen from Swansea), and hopefully new style of play for Brighton, will let the player who excelled for AZ Alkmaar shine again.

He was a player to watch before going into the 2018 World Cup, but sadly has provided very little to watch since. But that season in the Dutch Eredivise was something.

21 goals and 12 assists was the return in 17/18, so no wonder plenty was expected.

Less is expected this season, and at 7.0M it is hardly great value, but if the new management at Brighton suits him that 7.0 could look like a bargain.

Norwich have a rich roster of value midfielders for the upcoming season, it’s a matter of which one to choose.

You could choose from Onel Hernández (5.5) , Emiliano Buendía (6.0), or Mario Vrancic (6.5), all are cheap and under 1% ownership. Most will probably do the job too.

We choose Marco Stiepermann on a hunch, and after watching a number of Championship games last season. His goals/assists returns are in line with the other midfielders listed above.

The only issue is Norwich’s difficult first five games. After that it gets a bit easier, so perhaps hold fire, and compare the Norwich midfield market.

Sheffield United look likely candidates to go down, but they looked even less likely to make the EPL last season from the Championship, so who knows.

There are actually a few good candidates for differentials here. As discussed in our Big Questions preview earlier, we already suggested that goalkeepers where a great way to go for Sheffield Utd.

The one we’ve chosen here is certainly one of the more interesting characters this season.

Ravel Morrison was a real prospect in the Man Utd system before moving on to a variety of clubs, and increasing disappointments.

He trialed with the Blades in the off season and his efforts have been rewarded with an EPL gig.

At 5.0M you can only take him as a filler in blind faith, but following up the news after his signing, many people came to his defense with claims of the most talented person they’ve played with. But the numbers don’t match up, yet.

We round up the next 10 teams of our 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League Differentials with Aston Villa, and another side where there is almost a buffer for cheap talent for your FPL side.

We’ve selected Tyrone Mings for his great second half of the season while on loan at Aston Villa. No wonder Villa were so keen to keep him. Sometimes it takes a change of scenery to rediscover your best.

His numbers for FPL are pretty weak, but he has rarely been given a chance in the EPL with Bournemouth. You know he is going to play every game for Aston villa if he is fit. And he will compete.

At 4.5M he may just be a great bench warmer,
