Our Round 19 Intrust Super Cup Predictions and Preview awaits, and there’s just five weeks to go.
Most of the top eight is sorted, with the only battle really over eighth place. Unless Tweed Heads or Easts have a disastrous end to the season.
That leaves eighth placed Redcliffe facing a challenge from mainly Ipswich, but also mathematically Mackay and Souths Logan.
Who has the best/worst run in the last weeks, we got through that soon, but first some tips.
Intrust Super’s Brendan O’Farrell as ever has provided his expert opinion on who will win.
And with less expertise are our Round 19 Intrust Super Cup Predictions and Preview. We appreciate the feedback from last weekend, thanks for reading.
Not forgetting that Round 19 of the Intrust Super Cup is a split round, with games shared over the next two weeks.

Intrust Super Cup Finals Run
We hand picked some interesting and important fields to determine who was the better / worse run in to the finals.
Some teams are lucky to avoid top four teams for the rest of the season, some teams have just got plain lucky when they play teams outside the top eight.
Those teams who have to fly to PNG are punished in the travel distance, Souths Logan could get by on about $10 worth of fuel for a mini bus.
It makes mildly interesting reading.
SO WHO HAS THE BEST / WORST INTRUST SUPER CUP FINALS RUN IN?
We ranked the above fields 11 to 1 with the more favourable result getting the 11, because there are 11 teams, and added up all the points. The more points the better the Intrust Super Cup Finals run in is.
Happily for those chasing the final top eighth spot, the teams currently outside the top eight have the easier draws. In theory. Tweed Heads seem to get it easier than other clubs. Easts Tigers, who are struggling for finals type consistency have the toughest run home according to us.
Our figures are below.
Round 19 INTRUST SUPER CUP – MINI PREVIEW
Since we put all our energy into the above Intrust Super Cup Finals run part, here’s an even quicker rundown on all things Round 19 Intrust Super Cup than usual. Split round equals split effort.
NORTHS DEVILS v IPSWICH JETS
Sunday 27th July – 6pm @ Bishop Park
We Say: We have barely got Norths right this season in tipping, so tipping them to beat the Jets could be a terrible idea. As a left field idea, we say Ipswich to win as the Walker brothers try to impress for the Titans gig.
SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES v NORTHERN PRIDE
Sunday 28th July – 1:10pm @ Davies Park
TV GAME
We Say: Here comes the charge (or swoop?) of the Magpies after defeating Redcliffe in Pittsworth last weekend. They are still a long way behind making the finals, but our run analysis above shows that Souths Logan have one of the easier draws.
TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS v MACKAY CUTTERS
Sunday 28th July – 2:00pm @ Piggabeen
We Say: Tweed Heads will make themselves also mathematically finals ready with a win this weekend over Mackay who have struggled to win in South East Queensland this season. That’d be two wins over central Queensland teams in two weeks after the Seagulls beat the Capras last weekend in Ilfracombe. It helps to have Ash Taylor trying to impress the new bosses at the Titans.
NEXT WEEKEND
EASTS TIGERS v WYNNUM SEAGULLS
Saturday 3rd August – 3:00pm @ Langlands Park
We Say: Wynnum have the chance to leapfrog Burleigh into second if they win and the Bears do not. So we say they will at least uphold that side of the bargain and inflict a rare defeat on Easts Tigers at home. A good local derby that will be decided by late piece of brilliance from Edene Gebbie.
TOWNSVILLE BLACKHAWKS v PNG HUNTERS
Saturday 3rd August – 4:05pm @ Jack Manski Oval
We Say: This has been a classic clash over the years, and the Hunters have been quite successful, more so in PNG however. We would love to pick the Hunters, but Townsville’s form is too ominous. Especially that 60-6 belting they handed out to the Pride last start, and Townsville beat Burleigh next weekend. So Townsville it is.
SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS v CENTRAL CAPRAS
Saturday 3rd August – 5:00pm @ Sunshine Coast Stadium
We Say: 1st v last can only go one way, with a team in as good form as the Falcons are. The Capras aren’t awful down at the cellar of the Intrust Super Cup, they are just not in the kind of form that will trouble the all conquering Falcons. If the Capras lose by less than 30 it is a fine job. But who knows, by next week the Storm could have multiple players down in the NRL and the Falcons fill those spots and the gap is narrowed.
BURLEIGH BEARS v REDCLIFFE DOLPHINS
Sunday 1:10pm @ Pizzey Park
TV GAME
We Say: Our tips have been relatively boring so far, so to end on a high note, how about an upset to finish Intrust Super Cup round 19, with Redcliffe making the top eight more exciting for the teams inside the top eight. Both teams lost in Country Week, and will come into this game with a nice freshen up.
