State of Origin is taking over again, so we’d better get our NRL Round 14 Team of the Week done from last weekend.
We figured that after sitting through all of the eight NRL Round 14 games, we may as well have something constructive to show for it.
Our NRL Round 14 Team of the Week list features the best players from the weekend, and where possible try to pick the 13 players in position, and then the next best four, where possible. But some positions don’t shine like others, so we have a flexible starting 13 from time to time.
Of course any Team of the Week is going to cause debate, so feel free to pick apart our NRL Round 14 Team of the Week.
NRL Round 14 Team of the Week
FULLBACK – TOM TRBIJEVIC (Sea Eagles)
What a return from injury for the Manly fullback. Good enough for a Manly win and a NSW call up. Over 300 metres and every box ticked except errors.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Tom Trbojevic | 1 | 1 | 9 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 28 | 341 | 3 |
WINGER – KYLE FELDT (Cowboys)
The Cowboys winger is underrated, but few cna deny his impact on most games.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Kyle Feldt | 0 | 2 | 1 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 12 | 145 | 3 |
CENTRE – JARROD CROKER (Raiders)
Croker equaled his uncle’s try scoring record for Canberra, and was involved in key plays, kicked important goals and scored a try.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Jarrod Croker | 1 | 1 | 1 | 14 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 8 | 43 | 15 |
CENTRE – PETER HIKU (Warriors)
A lot of the big point scoring centres this week were from losing sides, and since they were all so close, we’ve gone for Peter Hiku, whose Warriors side loves the Gold Coast.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Peta Hiku | 1 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 14 | 103 | 20 |
WINGER – KEN MAUMALO (Warriors)
A powerhouse performance from Maumalo as you always comes to expect now from the huge Warriors winger. Over 200 metres and 2 line breaks and 2 tries on a busy night for the big man.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Ken Maumalo | 0 | 2 | 2 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 24 | 284 | 3 |
FIVE EIGHTH – CAMERON MUNSTER (Storm)
Player of the week, and getting nicely into tune for Origin with one of his best for the season so far. Does everything.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Cameron Munster | 3 | 0 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 20 | 115 | 23 |
HALFBACK – MITCHELL MOSES (Eels)
Parramatta have been hot and cold this season, and Mitchell Moses is usually at the heart of either. This week he lead the mauling of the Broncos.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Mitchell Moses | 2 | 0 | 4 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 10 | 75 | 18 |
PROP – MARTIN TAUPAU (Sea Eagles)
Possibly getting biased now, but every week he puts forward a case to be the best prop in rugby league right now. What a shame for PNG Kumuls fans that he changed his international colours to Samoa.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Martin Taupau | 0 | 0 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 17 | 162 | 33 |
HOOKER – CAMERON SMITH (Storm)
Cameron Smith is adding another dimension to the Storm this year, as he is free during Origin for a change after retiring.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Cameron Smith | 0 | 0 | 2 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 13 | 53 | 33 |
PROP – JOSH McGUIRE (Cowboys)
Can tend to be a polarising figure with some of his on field behaviour, but we bet that the Broncos are missing him. Although neither the Cowboys and Broncos are truly prospering in 2019.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Josh McGuire | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 17 | 159 | 41 |
SECOND ROW – BRYCE CARTWRIGHT (Panthers)
After once boldly claiming that Bryce Cartwright would win a Dally M medal, it is nice to see him put in a performance that gets him closer to his peak at Penrith.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Bryce Cartwright | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 16 | 136 | 40 |
SECOND ROW – BRYCE CARTWRIGHT (Panthers)
Has made the most of his move to the Tigers from the Roosters, and has got himself close to NSW Origin selection with his fine work in 2019.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Ryan Matterson | 0 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 13 | 121 | 33 |
LOCK – JASON TAUMALOLO (Cowboys)
Not his best week by the standards in which he has set himself this season, but surely good enough for Lock of the Week.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Jason Taumalolo | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 18 | 218 | 26 |
INTERCHANGE – MICHAEL MORGAN (Cowboys)
Playing at fullback despite being the Cowboys best half, and an Origin centre, he still is in the mix of every game each week, and was once again in the Cowboys loss to the Tigers.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Michael Morgan | 2 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 7 | 33 | 15 |
INTERCHANGE – JAMES MALONEY (Panthers)
Played good enough to win the Panthers yet another game, and make is way into the Origin team, under the last man standing rule of course.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
James Maloney | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 15 | 93 | 14 |
INTERCHANGE – JAEMAN SALMON (Eels)
A double up for the Eels after their big win over the Broncos.
Player | Try Assist | Tries | Tackle Breaks | Points | Line Break | LB Assists | Errors | Runs | Metres | Tackles |
Jaeman Salmon | 2 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 10 | 74 | 25 |
INTERCHANGE – MANU MA’U(Eels)
The NRL Round 14 Team of the week ends with the Eels powerhouse taking out the final position.

Manu Ma’u | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 17 | 170 | 30 |
