As we come down from the high of the first of the Premier League midweek fixtures, we need to push on with our Premier League Predictions Week 16 for this weekend.
Every week we offer up tips, a mini preview, betting advice and an alternative view on the Premier League, that we hope you enjoy.
It’s very much like BBC’s Lawro vs Somebody preview, but better. Arguably. This week our opponent tips aren’t a celebrity or musician we’ve barely heard of, but tips based on how much each club is hated.
Premier League Predictions Week 16 – Gurgler v % Each EPL Club is Hated
Opponent Tips Background: There are some big news stories coming out of the UK, and since we’ve already done tips based on Brexit, we’ll use the big feud between Princes Kate and Princes Meghan to determine some opponent selections.
Since that is all about hate, how about some tips based on hate.
We found a delightful article that compiled how much people hated each EPL club, which pointed out pretty much the obvious.
So, since it’s better not to be hated, whichever club in the head to heads for this weekend has the lowest hate percentage get s the selection.

Midweek Premier League Predictions Week 16 Quick Mini Preview
GAME BY GAME PREVIEW IN 50 WORDS OR SO.
BOURNEMOUTH v LIVERPOOL
The early game should be a cracker, one that will really judge where both teams are at. Liverpool are still undefeated, but have not been overly convincing, yet. The midweek win against Burnley proving some of that. Bournemouth have impressed this season, but only returned to winning ways during the midweek after four losses in a row. Liverpool will be a tough test for Bournemouth, but they look up for it. Ryan Fraser in particular is in he best of form.
Barely Interesting: These teams have only met nine times – none before a third round FA Cup tie in 2014. Liverpool lead 7-1 in the wins (1 Draw).
Best Bet: Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.60
BURNLEY v BRIGHTON
Six losses in seven sees Burnley last but one, and with the league’s worst home record featuring just one win. Brighton are usually less effective away from home than in Brighton, but their seven points leaves them 14th in the away standings. The worry is whether Glenn Murray will be fit after leaving the field early during midweek.
Barely Interesting: The last 5 matches between these tow sides have been draws. Only three of the last 16 games haven’t ended in a draw or a 1-0 win.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.53
CARDIFF v SOUTHAMPTON
So Southampton have a new manager in former RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhüttl . something interesting anyway, and great to have something interesting rather than the usual Allardyce method of escaping relegation. They were outclassed by Spurs at Wembley midweek, but who isn’t. Cardiff are ona good run at home, winning three of their last four and two in a row. Neil Warnock has done well to outlive any manager given how much he was favoured for the first sacking.
Barely Interesting: These two sides have only met twice before this season in the EPL, and both games that season went to the away team.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.65
MANCHESTER UTD v FULHAM
A pair of draws for these two sides in the midweek games, both reasonably entertaining. Each side probably happy for the point, although one of them shouldn’t be. Claudio Ranieri has made some improvement at Fulham, but despite Manchester United’s woes, they should still be hard for Fulham to beat. Should be. A home loss to the last placed side could Jose over the edge.
Barely Interesting: Fulham haven’t beaten Manchester United since December 2009. It was 3-0 though.
Best Bet: Both teams to score @ $1.83
ARSENAL v HUDDERSFIELD
Arsenal are still undefeated from Round 3 inwards, and it was a decent performance during midweek, even if it did not lead to a win. And they are starting to look like genuine top 4 challengers. Huddersfield have turned the corner of late, and are just out of the relegation zone. Despite losing their last two, they looked reasonably promising against Bournemouth, but they will need more than a good performance against Arsenal
Barely Interesting: Whilst there hasn’t been too many recent meetings between these two sides, Huddersfield last win v Arsenal was in 1971.
Best Bet: Race to 3 Goals – Arsenal @ $2.03
WEST HAM v CRYSTAL PALACE
The midweek produced wildly different outcomes for the two London clubs. West Ham were impressive as they saw off Cardiff at home. Crystal Palace lost to their biggest rival, who only had ten men for two thirds of the game. West Ham have won two in a row in impressive style, but they are wildly unpredictable.
Barely Interesting: West Ham have the fifth worst home record of the current EPL sides since moving into the London Stadium. Win rate is 37%.
Best Bet: Will thee be a penalty awarded? Yes @ $3.45
CHELSEA v MANCHESTER CITY
The premium clash of the weekend, and Chelsea enter it on the back of two losses in three games, the latest a loss against Wolves. It had been coming for a little. Manchester City could have beaten Watford midweek by plenty more than the 2-1, but Ben Foster kept the Hornets in the game until they picked up late in the game. Chelsea will just be another speed bump for the juggernaut that City has become. Mahrez was the best player over all the midweek fixtures, but unfortunately a bulging roster at City means he may not rewarded for his efforts this weekend
Barely Interesting: Three of the last five EPL clashes have been won by the way side.
Best Bet: Manchester City to win @ $1.91
LEICESTER v SPURS
Leicester are yet to lose since the passing of their beloved owner, but there are quite a few draws in that run, another chalked up midweek against Fulham. The visit of the EPL’s best away side this season will surely test that unbeaten. Spurs looked good against Southampton who played better than recent results suggest. The big four of Kane, Alli, Son and Eriksen have now had a few games together, and getting into a nice groove.
Barely Interesting: There has been 19 goals in the past three EPL matches between these two sides.
Best Bet: Harry Kane to score anytime @ $1.88
NEWCASTLE v WOLVES
Newcastle got a decent draw at Everton midweek, after their surprise 3-0 loss at home last weekend ruined their recent momentum. Talking of momentum, it doesn’t get much better to stop a run of five losses and a draw in six games with a home win over Chelsea. Watching Wolves this year will confirm the Chelsea result is no fluke, they have played quite well against the top six sides.
Barely Interesting: Away sides have won three of the last four league matches.
Best Bet: Wolves to win @ $2.60
EVERTON v WATFORD
A game that will be a little or a lot about Richarlisson and Marco Silva meeting their former employers, and perhaps it has worked out for both sides, with Richarlisson proving decent value for Everton, Marco Silva turning Everton into the next best side, and Watford are going nicely as well. Everybody wins. Except this weekend where no doubt Everton and their former Watford players will hurt the Hornets.
Barely Interesting: Watford have won two of the last four clashes between these two side, but only another two wins after that in 22 matches.
Best Bet: Richarlisson to score anytime @ $2.40
