Premier League Predictions Week 13 Quick Mini Preview
GAME BY GAME PREVIEW IN 50 WORDS OR SO.
BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION v LEICESTER CITY
Less than a decade ago these two teams faced off in the third tier of League One, who’d think less than 10 years later Leicester would have won Premier League and Brighton were a regular figure in the Premier League. The historical head to head between these two sides is exactly the same, both look like solid midfield teams at their best. Brighton have the 8th best home form, Leicester 8th best away form. Has to be a draw then.
BEST BET – A Penalty Scored @ $4.50 or Glenn Murray score anytime @$2.63
EVERTON v CARDIFF CITY
Both teams are on the improve – Everton have won four from six and enjoyed a last start draw against Chelsea, their last six start form is third overall. Cardiff got the win late against Brighton and are nearly out of the bottom three. Cardiff has a surprising historical head to head advantage over Everton, although they have only met once in 6 decades before Cardiff’s last adventure in 13/14.
BEST BET – Both sides to score – No @ $1.83
FULHAM v SOUTHAMPTON
Fulham could barely have asked for a better new manager to suit their current needs than Claudio Ranieri, or a better game in which to start the new reign. Fulham looked OK in defeat at Liverpool last start, and perhaps with a sorted out defence it would allow Mitrovic and Sessegnon to work their magic. Southampton look ordinary, and are lucky this season features many poor sides set for the drop.
BEST BET – Half Time / Full Time – Fulham / Fulham @ $4.20
MANCHESTER UNITED v CRYSTAL PALACE
Crystal Palace are at the last of the four game run against the big six teams, and they have done a decent job looking back. A draw with Arsenal and being competitive in losses to Spurs and Chelsea show they might stay up this season. If they can get Zaha on the field. Their last top six opponent is Manchester United this weekend, a team they have beaten in the Premier League era, the last win coming in 1991. It has been 19 wins for Man Utd and 3 draws since in the League. Even Mourinho can’t wreck this record?
BEST BET: MAN UTD -1.0 Handicap @ $2.00
WATFORD v LIVERPOOL
Could be the game of the weekend with Watford flying high in seventh, and have already beaten some decent sides so far this season. Liverpool are still undefeated, and do keep winning these games in the league, but re nowhere near as impressive as last season. Yet. Mo Salah looks close to last year’s form, and scored for Egypt over the International break. There should be a few goals in it based on the last six games, which produced an average of 4 goals a game. Watford have only beaten Liverpool four times in 22 meetings.
BEST BET: Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.58
WEST HAM UNITED v MANCHESTER CITY
This will be the 100th meeting between the two sides in all competitions, West Ham are currently on 50 losses. Hard to see West Ham beating Manchester City in their current form, and City have racked up some big scores in their three visits to the London Stadium. Three wins from three at 4-1, 4-0, 5-0. Strangely though, for this week’s tipping method uncovered Man City have only managed one draw against Claudio Ranieri sides in nine attempts.
BEST BET: Both Teams to Score – Yes @ $1.72
TOTTENHAM v CHELSEA
The big game of the round featuring fourth v third and only one point apart. Both are playing well enough, and deserve their top four status, but you can’t see either side topping Manchester City by the end of the season. Harry Kane will likely be in top form, on a high after the England victory in the Nations League. Of mild interest, the last six Premier League games between the pair followed pattern – Away Win, Away Win, Home Win, Home Win, Draw, Draw.
BEST BET: First Goalscorer – Harry Kane @ $4.50
BOURNEMOUTH v ARSENAL
A great test for both sides, and should be plenty entertaining. Bournemouth have been best of the rest this season so far, and their 6th place is well deserved, but back to back losses ha halted momentum, although they should have beaten Man Utd. Similarly Arsenal’s results have slightly dropped off of late, with three draws in a row. Failure to beat Bournemouth will have most questioning their top four credentials. There have been at least two goals in each match between these two sides, and have never met outside Bournemouth’s recent EPL seasons.
BEST BET: Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.50
WOLVES v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
This will be the first head to head between these sides in the top flight since 1972, both teams subsequently spending time in the lower tiers of football, including the fourth division at some stage. Wolves look like they will be hanging around the Premier League for some time, and were impressive, if not victorious in recent games against Arsenal and Spurs. Huddersfield looks a less likely EPL mainstay, but four points in their last two gives hope for another survival.
BEST BET: Under 2.5 Goals @ $1.62
BURNLEY v NEWCASTLE UNITED
Two wins in a row for Newcastle has seen them pip this week’s opponents Burnley to 14th place on goal difference, sharing nine points. Burnley, by contrast haven’t won in their last five games. They do hold the best recent record in this fixture, Newcastle haven’t beaten Burnley since 1975. Another win will bring much needed breathing space to the bottom.
BEST BET: Both Teams To Score – No @ $1.80
