The weekend is here, and that means way too much European Football to keep up with, so we offer up our quick European Football Highlights for the weekend. A weekend that features the two biggest German clubs in Der Classiker. There’s also top four clashes in Spain and Italy, plus our weekly fix of Eibar.
Some might call our European Football Highlights hipster football, we don’t, it’s pure sports nerd and football goodness. Give us an Eibar, Sassuolo, or Borussia Monchengladbach any day and time one.
And too much football is barely enough we like to say.
But if you have a life and can’t watch everything, we offer up our quick European Football Highlights, to help you follow the best of it, without the need to stay up for absolutely everything. With added TV times
Quick European Football Highlights – The Matches
Here are the minimum of games worth keeping an eye on.
There are TV Times for those in Australia lucky enough with Bein Sports.
LA LIGA – VALLADOLID v EIBAR
EURO KICK OFF SATURDAY LUNCHTIME
Always time for our favoruite Spanish team. Things looked bad for Eibar last week as they should have gone behind after 15 seconds, and did so four minutes later. But they fought back, assisted by a red card, and eventually equalised and stile the win in injury time. Valladolid are doing well after promotion, currently sitting 8th and could leapfrog Real Madrid with a win, thanks to the earlier kick off. Eibar could draw level on points with Real Madrid and leapfrog Valladolid with a win also.
Prediction: Eibar 2-1

BUNDESLIGA – DORTMUND v BAYERN MUNICH
EURO KICK KICK OFF – SATURDAY NIGHT
The big game in Germany and Europe this weekend – der Klassiker. Dortmund have thoroughly deserved their Bundesliga lead, and not just because Bayern are having an off season. They are a great side to watch and are still unbeaten in the league. They did suffer their first loss of the season against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday. Bayern suffered the humiliating rarity of a home defeat, part of the even rarer back to back defeat just over a month ago. Despite all that they are still just four points behind. One hopes Dortmund can win, if only to make the title race that little bit more interesting as the inevitable Bayern fightback continues.
Prediction: Draw 2-2

BUNDESLIGA – WERDER BREMEN v BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
EURO KICK KICK OFF – SATURDAY
No quite Dortmund v Bayern, but still 6th v 2nd, and features our favourite Geman team Borssia Monchengladbach. Our favourite team can take full advantage of a loss to either team in der Klassiker moving closer to the top or further away from Bayern. Werder Bremen could be right there with them too if they hadn’t lost their last two. A delayed kick off on Bein Sport in Australia means football at a decent hour.
Prediction: Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0
TV – Bein Sports Australia Kick Off Time – ADST Sun 12:40 (Delayed) – Bein Sports 2
LA LIGA – BARCELONA v REAL BETIS
EURO KICK OFF SUNDAY
Barcelona are always a team to watch, especially this year with the added unpredictability on offer. There have been over 4 goals a game on average in Barcelon games this season. They are top, but not with the same authority as previous seasons. Messi should return to a side that has done pretty well without him.
Prediction: – Barcelona 5-2
TV – Bein Sports Australia Kick Off Time – ADST Mon 2:10 – Bein Sports 2
LA LIGA – SEVILLA v ESPANYOL
EURO KICK KICK OFF – SUNDAY EVENING
A great season for Barcelona teams with Espanyol completing the top two for the city behind their bigger named nieghbours. They are only behind Atletico Madrid in longest current unbeaten run (6) and goals conceded (8 in 11 games). They sit just a point above Sevilla, but the worry is their away form – just one win in six on the road this season. Sevilla have won their last three at home. Although Sevilla had to play on Thursday night away in the Europa League.
Prediction: Sevilla 1-0
TV – Bein Sports Australia Kick Off Time – ADST Mon 4:25 – Bein Sports 2
SERIE A – AC MILAN v JUVENTUS
EURO KICK KICK OFF – SUNDAY EVENING
Juventus come in to this match up of 4th v 1st after suffering a rare defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the Champions League. Ronaldo’s super goal not enough. Juventus’ title is not yet a formailty, but despite the challenges of Inter, Napoli and Milan, Juventus have only one draw as their blip for the season so far. The Milan manager never seems to far away from sacking rumours, despite winning five of the last six. The latest was Arsene Wenger. Milan are ten points behind Juventus, but their real battle is for the top four, of which they are currently in.
Prediction: – Draw 1-1
TV – Bein Sports Australia Kick Off Time – ADST Mon6:20 – Bein Sports 3
LIGUE 1 – MONACO v PSG
EURO KICK KICK OFF – SUNDAY EVENING
This would have been a massive game a few seasons ago when Monaco trumped PSG to the Ligue 1 title. These days Monaco are second last, and only avoiding the very bottom on goal difference. Thierry Henry’s stint in charge hasn’t gone well yet, winless and their pants pulled down by Club Bruges in the Champions League midweek. PSG have set a new Big Five European League record for consecutive wins to start the season. Ouch for Monaco.
Prediction: PSG 5-0
