Premier League Predictions Week 8 – Gurgler v Jose Mourinho

After another high quality midweek European interruption, the Premier League is back to liven up the weekends and once again we have our Premier League Predictions Week 8 ready.

Each game week we bring our unique look at the EPL, starting with this week’s Premier League Predictions Week 8 and then all the other things like games, fantasy, and betting that make up our mini preview.

But anyone can offer up predictions. So each week we will put our Premier League predictions up against a guest tipster, but not necessarily a person, but based on a statistic or ridiculous idea which has varying links to football.

It’s very much like BBC’s Lawro vs Somebody preview, but better. Arguably. And our tips are available for everyone to enjoy, not just those in the UK who know who the usual array of comedians and musicians are.

Like this week, for our Premier League Predictions Week 8 we put our selections up against tips based on each team’s record against Jose Mourinho, given his plight and front running in the sack race..

We’ll also offer up a few other bits and pieces for the huge weekend of Premier League.

Premier League Predictions Week 8 – Gurgler v Jose Mourinho

Opponent Tips Background: The big news, as it always seems to be, is Jose Mourinho in trouble at Manchester Utd. Will another form slump, and the usual bitterness towards media, it’s only a matter of time before he’s gone.

So before he goes, we need to use him for opponent tips.

How do we get tips out of that you ask?

Easy. We have got every team’s record against Jose Mourinho in the Premier League since his first stint at Chelsea, and whichever team has a better record (most average points per game) gets the pick.

Premier League Predictions Week 8 Quick Mini Preview

GAME BY GAME PREVIEW IN 25 WORDS OR LESS

BRIGHTON v WEST HAM

Brighton won this fixture last year by an aggregate 6-1 with two wins. Both sides have beaten Man Utd this year at home. These sides are 1st and 2nd in Yellow Cards. The Hammers 5 ahead.

BURNLEY v HUDDERSFIELD

No goals in either of these games last season, no surprise a repeat from Huddersfield with the lowest shots on target this year, but Burnley looking back in form now.

CRYSTAL PALACE v WOLVES

Crystal Palace haven’t scored at home this season, although Zaha did miss a game. Wolves have scored just two away in three games. Looks a 0-0 special.

LEICESTER v EVERTON

Looks entertaining enough, and always good to keep an eye on James Maddison. Leicester need to keep an eye on the air as Everton have the most headed goals this season with five.

SPURS v CARDIFF

Spurs got themselves into form last weekend with a good win at Huddersfield. Cardiff at home should provide as much opposition.

WATFORD v BOURNEMOUTH

The second most entertaining game on paper this weekend with a clash between surprise 6th and 7th sides.

MANCHESTER UTD v NEWCASTLE

Will the rot stop this weekend at Old Trafford? Newcastle have only conceded three goals away this years and played Manchester City.

FULHAM v ARSENAL

Everyone keeps saying that Fulham will be all right, but they aren’t winning much. Mitrovic has 5 of their 8 goals, and he has been major reason they have hit the woodwork more than any other team. Arsenal are plodding along nicely in their new life.

SOUTHAMPTON v CHELSEA

A team without a win at home against a team that has conceded just once away from home. Looks a low scoring win for Chelsea.

LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER CITY

Premium fixture and likely 1st v 2nd but EPL can shove the 1:20am Monday timeslot up their arse. This match saw 12 goals last season in two games, but Liverpool are yet to concede at home in the league. Barely interesting fact is that Salah has had more shots on target than Aguero this season.

THE AUSTRALIAN TV FTA GAME

No Optus? Don’t blame you, it’s no longer free. But if you’re a tightarse like us, here is the TV game for the week. $15 a month is not bad on Optus if you throw in the Champions and Europa League.

SATURDAY 9PM – LEICESTER v EVERTON
A nice chance see either side without one of the big 6.

THE 0-0 SPECIAL

CRYSTAL PALACE v WOLVES

Season Progress – 2 correct from 7 weeks. Who’d think there’d be goals at Cardiff?

FANTASY FOOTBALL THOUGHTS

We weren’t very good last season, but that won’t stop us providing a few Fantasy Football EPL tips.

  • Wolves defenders look a must – cheap and clean sheets and points a plenty
  • Are Fulham becoming the season’s biggest FPL disappointment?
  • After saying Kane is rubbish last week, how long before we change our mind. Not long. Before this weekend’s game v Cardiff.
  • Captain is a hard one this week with Man City v Liverpool. So those lucky enough to have Kane will have last laugh. We take Hazard but he is nowhere near as good away. Maddison a rough shout.
  • Do you hold Zaha and wait for his next injury or dump him now. Palace 0 goals at home this season.
