State of Origin III is coming up on Wednesday, and if you are thinking about missing it because it is a dead rubber or you are exhausted from watching way too much World Cup, think again.
Here is our Nein Reasons to Watch State of Origin III, and for balance, we offer up one reason why you should miss it.
We explain ourselves below giving some our thoughts on what we’re looking forward to. And aren’t.
In that case. this the second last time we have to put up with Channel Nein.
NEIN REASONS TO WATCH STATE OF ORIGIN III
THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A DEAD RUBBER
It usually doesn’t matter if the series is on the line, and so it is the case this time. Queensland need a face saving win cauldron. For NSW securing a clean sweep at Lang Park could make up for some of the barren, maroon tinted years.
WATCH BILLY SLATER END FINE STATE OF ORIGIN CAREER
Billy Slater has been a State of Origin warrior for Queensland and deserves to go out a winner. And anyone who doesn’t agree just a little bitter or not a Queensland fan.
BECAUSE THERE IS VERY LITTLE DIVING IN STATE OF ORIGIN III, UNLIKE ANOTHER MAJOR SPORTING TOURNAMENT
There’s no doubt the Football World Cup is huge, and captures the attention of Australian sporting fans, but getting into a big State of Origin III clash is a slight welcome relief from the diving, and rolling around for the sporting equivalent of a paper cut.
One wonders if anyone of these football players could survive a minute in rugby league. Kevin Muscat comes to mind.
IT COULD THE START OF A NEW DYNASTY…THAT LASTS FOR ONE SEASON
Anytime NSW win a State of Origin series, the talk immediately goes to dynasty. Usually the dynasty lasts one game before a decade of reality sets in, but the Blues went young and hungry and may just have the team to get the elusive dynasty.
Going by the retirements and form of the Queensland players, it could be some lean years for the maroons.
IF YOU DON’T THE NRL COULD SELL MORE THAN ONE ORIGIN GAME
With the NRL keen to expand their product to area that aren’t overly interested, Queenslanders and NSW fans must continue to get behind their teams and the State of Origin.
Otherwise the NRL could well sell of another game. Here’s some thoughts we had on potential new State of Origin locations from a few years ago.
THERE’S ALWAYS GAMBLING
If you are a bit sad that your team can’t win the series, or you aren’t as interested in genera; now that the series has been decided, you can always have a little wager.
There are hundreds of markets for you to choose from. Way too many options to discuss. So we have our top three State of Origin III bets.
Pick an obscure one to give yourself maximum interest.
TIME OF FIRST TRY – 7:59 or earlier $2.25 / * Mins + $1.64
COMPLETION RATE – Over 81.5% $1.88 Under 81.5% $1.88
SAME GAME MULTI – Betting on several outcomes within the same game.
THERE’S SIDE BETTING TOO
You don’t have to spend or wager money through a sports betting outlet, why not let your friends have a chance to rob you. And they don’t even have to be legit fields, or could be anything on the night.
Here’s a few suggestions…
ACTUAL KICK OFF TIME
AMOUNT OF GUS BULLSHIT (% OF COVERAGE)
1st MENTION OF GREG INGLIS IS FROM NSW NOT QLD DESPITE NOT PLAYING
WILL ALL THE PLAYERS SING/PRETEND TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM
Be creative
IT IS ONE OF THE FEW TIMES A YEAR WHERE A DRUNKARD CAN JUSTIFY A HEAP OF BEER MIDWEEK
Having double figure drinks is not good for you, but the classic binge drinking scenario awaits you anyway on Wednesday.
Normally you couldn’t go into work hungover, but it always seems as if a State of Origin washes away the sins. As long as you don’t piss yourself at your desk. Or throw up.
IT COULD BE THE END OF A NUMBER OF ORIGIN CAREERS
Mainly Daly Cherry Evans or Ben Hunt.
Both are carrying the can for losses for Queensland, and another one here will make it hard to justify them coming again.
Jarrod Wallace must be on thin ice too.
