Billy Monger and Daniel Repacholi

The less cynical people have spoken and Billy Monger and Daniel Repacholi win The Gurgler’s April 2018 Unsung Hero of the Month

For those you can’t remember or didn’t read the nominations list, the two winners come from different backgrounds, but both excelled at their chosen sport in the April voting period.

Billy Monger is a young British motor racing driver who lost both of his legs in an awful high speed crash that was lucky not to kill him. Fast forward and his recovery took a big step forward when he scored a podium on his return to competitive racing. Some kind of effort. Probably worthy of more than our Unsung Hero of the Month.

The other winner of the April 2018 Unsung Hero of the Month was Australian Commonwealth Games Shooting Gold Medalist Daniel Repacholi who was one of our favourite Soon-To-Be-Forgotten Comm Games Gold Medalists. Mainly because he looks like Ned Kelly and wins gold in shooting.

Fellow Commonwealth Games soon-to-be-forgotten Gold Medalist and Lawn Bowls rockstar Aaron Wilson was next in the voting, his shirt ripping antics not quite enough. A shame for the man known as Discotheque.

Further back were Fox Sports for stealing the Cricket coverage off Channel Nein, Daniel Ricciardo for showing that F1 can produce overtaking for a win, and the Commonwealth Games mascot Borobi, who will be a glorious trivia question in a couple of years.

So we salute Billy Monger and Daniel Repacholi, our Unsung Heroes for April 2018.
