GURGLER’S EPL TIPPING COMPETITION

Each week we will put our tips up against an opponent, just like Lawro’s tips on the BBC Football website. But instead of having famous comedian and musicians we’ve never heard of, we put our tips up against a different type of opponent.

We determine tips based on some ridiculous premise or statistic, and we then see if arse truly does beat class.

This week’s opponent tips are based on the weather ahead for this weekend.

OUR EPL MATCHDAY 33 PREDICTIONS

Onto our selections for the round ahead, with added scores to take on Lawro from the BBC.   Our bold predictions for score are alongside our weekly tips.

THIS WEEK’S OPPONENT:

EPL MATCHDAY 33 PREDICTIONS v THE LOCAL DERBY

This weekend sees two of the bigger EPL derbies being played out in Liverpool and Manchester, both a little in the shadow of the big Champions League game between Liverpool and Manchester City. Liverpool with the upper hand could be forgiven if they took it easier than usual, Man City too for saving their energy for the return leg in Champions League. But a derby is still a derby, and the fact that Man City can take the title this weekend in the big clash is inspiration enough.

So, inspired by local derbies, we’ve decided that this week’s tipping opponent will be based on them. Whoever has the better winning % of the two teams.

Of course this week sees only the Liverpool and Manchester derbies, so for the other teams we have identified their biggest rival and worked out the winning percentage. Again the better the win percentage against their respective rival that team gets the tip. Follow the tips and brackets below.

LIVERPOOL (40%) to beat Everton (28%)
LEICESTER (43% v Coventry) to beat Newcastle (34% v Sunderland)
HUDDERSFIELD (41% v Leeds) to beat Brighton (20% v Crystal Palace)
STOKE (55% v Port Vale) to beat Spurs (31% v Arsenal)
BURNLEY (42% v Blackburn) to beat Watford (31% v Luton)
WEST BROM (40% v Wolves) to beat Swansea (33% v Cardiff)
CRYSTAL PALACE (55% v Brighton) v Bournemouth (27% v Southampton)
MAN UTD (41%) to beat Man City (29%)
SOUTHAMPTON (48% v Portsmouth) to beat Arsenal (42% v Spurs)
WEST HAM (34% v Millwall) to beat Chelsea (v Arsenal according to Wikipedia 32%)
