The Best and Worst of NRL Round 3 + Team of the Week

It was the best of NRL Round 3 and the very blurst of the NRL Round 3, and who is best qualified to sort the lamb from the mutton? We are of course, and our weekly review is here for the very of you that are interested.

As ever we have our debatable NRL Round 2 Team of the Week, point out the things that made us love Rugby League this weekend, some things that gave us the irits, some Supercoach lessons, plus award the Minto Magic for NRL Round 3.

Way too much information? Never fear, we won’t go into too much details. We’ve watched all the games so you didn’t have to. Feel free to use our review as the dot point plan for those workplace discussions over the coming week.

NRL ROUND 3 TEAM OF THE WEEK

Who were the star performers this weekend, worthy of a spot in our Team of Week. Check out our craptacular picture below. So hard with so many great performances in the same positions.

PEACHES OF THE WEEK

As good as our Team of the Week is, some were just a little better and deserve more Player of the Year points. So here are our top 5 players for the weekend.

5 – Gareth Widdop
4 – Nathan Brown
3 – Anthony Milford
2 – Benji Marshall
1 – Tevita Pangai

TEAM OF THE YEAR – THE MARVELLOUS MAVIN MEDAL

We will keep score and unveil the leaderboard from Round 6 onwards. Talk about sizzle…..

BEST OF THINGS FROM NRL Round 3

OUR FAVOURITE THINGS OF THE WEEK

Just a few of our favourite things….unlike whiskers on kittens.

Wests Tigers performances against the toughest starting fixtures possible.

Ending to the Canberra – Warriors game.

Rugby League away from the big cities – like Toowoomba. Given some of the pissweak crowds for some of the matches, a few more regional games wouldn’t hurt. Or an entire Country Week like the Intrust Super Cup.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Souths v Manly – a sadly too rare great day out for a Souths fan these days.

WORST OF THINGS FROM NRL Round 3

Penalty given against Wests Tigers in their Golden Point loss to the Broncos.

Golden Point – the sooner the NRL realises it is not the NFL Lite and accepts that most proper Rugby League fans consider a draw a decent result the better. Perhaps if teams knew that the game ends at 80 minutes regardless, they might try even harder to win.

Parramatta Eels.

A LESSON IN SUPERCOACH FROM NRL ROUND 3

What did we learn from Supercoach this weekend?

If only you had Gareth Widdop.
There’s no value in Cowboys, yet.
Jamayne Isaako is worth hanging onto for now.
