On the back of the last year’s success of Ninja Warrior on Channel Nein, Channel Seven after diving into the concept with their own version Australian Spartan, but really all of them are simply modern day, super charged versions of an old classic It’s A Knockout.
Sure It’s A Knockout lacks the super fit people and back story, but it had everything else.
It’s A Knockout has Billy J Smith, a perfect host who had the right amount of everything, including the ability to guffaw about the smallest point of It’s A Knockout interest.
Fiona MacDonald was the perfect foil too, providing even more over the top enjoyment at the goings on at the It’s A Knockout showgrounds.
And the revolving cast of token referees can now be viewed upon as the great collection of 80’s Australian stars that it was.
They tried to create the same in a studio a few years back, but not even HG Nelson could save that disgrace.
So we ask the question, why recreate something that is essentially It’s A Knockout, either in a new form with the same title, or a new super charged athletic version. Just play the old episodes and enjoy the ratings.
In honour of the great iconic TV Show, we are celebrating A Great It’s A Knockout Game Week, with our favourite games of the show that we can remember from the part of the brain that hasn’t been killed off.

THE PENGUIN GAME
What is not to like about giant Penguins being spun around who then need to collect water and tip it into an oversized rain gauge. Nothing at all, so enjoy.
THE LOCH NESS MONSTER GAME
One of the most memorable and remembered games of It’s A Knockout. A giant wall sized puzzle, that somehow required the men to be dressed like a mixture of sailor, aerobics Oz Style backup athlete and convict. Which is less puzzling than dressing the females in a milk maid type outfit.
THE FRANKENSTEIN GAME
A game that would look, and does look a little Law & Order SVU creepy these days, but a memorable It’s A Knockout none the less. Nothing says It’s A Knockout like an Alice in Wonderland dressed female chained at the ankles, being chased by a giant Frankenstein. Sounds very SVU.
STEPPING STONES
Nothing dates fashion through the ages like swimwear. And Facial Hair. And his name is Jock. Enjoy.
ASSAULTED PEANUTS
As if a game featuring giant peanuts couldn’t get any better, then Billy J and Fiona are dressed in Native American gear.
BET YOUR LOAF
We don’t even remember this one, but stumbled across it during “research”.
