No One Cares About The EFL English Football League in Australia – Episode 3

No One Cares About The EFL English Football League in Australia, that’s what we said every week since we launched our new weekly Football League bit, and so far we aren’t far off

Perhaps the readership is simply matching the episode number, and we’ll be disappointed if we don’t get three this week.

After a more exciting International break than usual with genuine surprises about qualification and not for the World Cup it is time to settle back into the regular Football League.

That’s all good by us, although we did enjoy the League One and Two matches on offer last weekend.

Despite the fact that No One Cares About The EFL English Football League in Australia we will continue to bring the Football League bits and pieces, even if no one reads it, because sometimes that is exactly what happens. It’s not you, it’s us.

Onto our thoughts of all the Football League for this weekend because No One Cares About The EFL English Football League in Australia.

BEIN SPORTS – FOXTEL TV GAMES FOR THIS ROUND

Football League is back, and even though they took their sweet time, it’s great to have it back. More Football League gold coming this week, and it’s all ours.

SATURDAY 5:40/4:40am – CH514 BEIN SPORTS 2

BIRMINGHAM CITY v CARDIFF – Cardiff sit on top of the ladder, Birmingham are third last and were belted 6-1 by Hull last time out. Not all Harry Redknapp’s fault then.

SUN/SAT 12:55am/11:55pm – CH514 BEIN SPORTS 2

LEEDS UTD v READING – Leeds were everyone’s tip for promotion a month ago and have no lost three in four. Last year’s Playoff finalist Reading are winless in five and fifth last.

SUNDAY 3:25/2:25am – CH514 BEIN SPORTS 2

WOLVES v ASTON VILLA – Two big midlands clubs, brought in some big names in the summer, both looking good for Top 6.

SUNDAY 11:10/10:10pm – CH514 BEIN SPORTS 2

DERBY COUNTY v NOTTINGHAM FOREST – One of the best derbies in the Championship.

OTHER GAMES WE WISHED THEY HAD

IPSWICH TOWN v SHEFFIELD UNITED
WYCOMBE WANDERERS v EXETER

FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAMS OF LAST WEEKEND

Just League One and Two in action last weekend.

SHREWSBURY TOWN – Still the only unbeaten Football League team left.

OLDHAM ATHLETIC – Won two from two with Interim Manager, conceding three goals. They shipped 23 in their previous 9. Rumour of Paul Scholes going to manage.

LUTON TOWN – won five from six now and up to third.

FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAMS IN TROUBLE

AFC WIMBLEDON – Lost three of last four and in the drop zone. Scored just 5 goals in 12 games so far. Sad to say as a former Wimbledon resident.

NORTHAMPTON TOWN – Already sacked one manager who won their first two games. Now winless in six. Despite big name Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink

FOREST GREEN ROVERS / PORT VALE / CHESTERFIELD – Almost getting cut adrift at the bottom of the Football League.

SACKED MANAGER COUNT

A nice side interest of following the Football League is The Sack Race for the next manager given the boot or leaving by “mutual consent”. Given the Football League usually dispose of about half of the 72 managers that start the season as a minimum, the next one is always around the corner.

ADEBAYO AKINFENWA aka THE BEAST WATCH

Our favourite footballer in any division or team around the footballing world is the man known as The Beast. Adebayo Akinfenwa is a Man Mountain that looks like he should be playing some kind of rugby.

6 Goals in 10 Appearances so far this season see him lead Wycombe into fourth.

We’re always ambitious here at The Gurgler, and nothing says ambition more than putting a comments section on a page that may not get read.

If you are a football League fan and want to banter, why not start below. It may be the only place in Australia left who cares.
