Celebrate International – Remember a Great Backing Band Week

The Gurgler prides  itself on attempting to remember the forgotten or obscure, so what better thing to do than celebrate Remember a Great Backing Band Week for our latest theme week.

There is barely anything more forgotten or obscure in music than a great backing band. With the possible exception of former Idol winners, and E Street spin offs.

Whilst the front man gets all the fame, money, and we presume women, the backing band are up the back keeping it all in check with their rhythm and melody. Rhythm. And Melody.

We don’t forget, and are here to celebrate Remember a Great Backing Band Week.

You may ask who our selections for Great Backing Bands, and so list our favourites.

GURGLER GREAT BACKING BANDS SELECTIONS

The Herbs (Dave Dobbyn)

Providing the Ya-Da-Da for the iconic song leading the soundtrack to the Footrot Flats Movie. Gold.

The Wailers (Bob Marley)

Bob Marley features on shirts, velveteen posters, and bongs all over the world, yet the Wailers are lucky if their name appears on the Best of CD.

The Delaware Destroyers (George Thorogood)

Providing the iconic motorbike bar sound to gravel toned voice that is George Thorogood.

The E Street Band (Bruce Springsteen)

One of the more well known backing bands, the drummer ended up on the Conan O’Brien show.

The Heartbreakers (Tom Petty)

Could Tom Petty have done it without the Heartbreakers. Except for the all-star Travelling Wilburys, no.

The Graceland Band (Paul Simon)

The unknown backing band from Africa provided the backing music to one of great albums and songs. You know, the one with Chevy Chase in it.
