Our Look at the Intrust Super Cup Round 12

Whilst the NRL allows its competition to go to sh!t for the next couple of months whilst it focuses on Origin instead of selling jerseys, the Intrust Super Cup Round 12 has a full round of action and a great bunch of games.

6 of the Top 7 are all facing off against each other, and one of them includes the great modern clash of the PNG Hunters v Townsville.

There’s some games in SEQ this weekend for those looking for a game of rugby league to watch this weekend, and given the Broncos are playing tomorrow in New Zealand, and the NRL isn’t that great this week or for the next many weeks, there’s never been a better time to get to an Intrust Super Cup game. Cheap entry, cheap beers, and football of a surprising quality.

Enough daydreaming, onto our preview of the Intrust Super Cup Round 12.

Intrust Super Cup Round 12 Preview of Games in 25 words or so.

Ipswich Jets v Wynnum Manly Seagulls at North Ipswich Reserve on Saturday – 3pm

Wynnum got a much needed first win since Round 3 last weekend, Ipswich could have beaten Hunter if they held onto the ball.

Mackay Cutters v Burleigh Bears at BB Print Stadium Mackay on Saturday – 6pm

Mackay have toughed it out against Redcliffe and Sunshine Coast away in consecutive weeks, Burleigh at home should be easier. Should.

CQ Capras v Northern Pride at Browne Park on Saturday – 6pm

Capras were robbed last weekend in Townsville, the Pride need to rob Central of two points to stay in touch with Top 6.

Tweed Heads Seagulls v Redcliffe Dolphins at Piggabeen Sports Complex on Sunday – 1.40pm

First v last, and Redcliffe looking very good for a 2017 title tilt. Tweed Heads unlikely to get their second win for the season this weekend.

PNG Hunters v Townsville Blackhawks at National Football Stadium on Sunday – 3pm

Always a great game between the two newcomers to the competition. Willie Minoga returns.

Norths Devils v Sunshine Coast Falcons at Bishop Park on Sunday – 3pm

Sunshine Coast sit just one points behind the competition leaders, but Norths will be a tricky foe this weekend.

Easts Tigers v Souths Logan Magpies at Suzuki Stadium, Langlands Park on Sunday  – 3pm

Close geographically, close on the ladder. Souths Logan affected by supplying Broncos players, Easts don’t have the same problem.

PNG HUNTERS CORNER

We were there at North Ipswich Reserve last weekend and saw a very good performance from the PNG Hunters. A performance that has them looking good for finals football at a minimum.

We shared our thoughts on the Ipswich v PNG Hunters game here with the 4 Pointers from the big clash.

This week it is the big clash with the Townsville Blackhawks, a side that is struggling at the moment, but less so away than at home. Although Townsville have never beaten the Hunters in ONG.

Big news is that Willie Minoga returns from suspension. Just s shame he missed the all important Kumuls v Cook Islands clash and the Ipswich game we went to. I guess we’ll just have to catch up on Grand Final day.
