Better late than never for our Queensland Cup Round 25 preview. At least it is submitted before the first game.
We have been busy though. We’ve already submitted some full match previews over at Nothing But League (why not check it out here), but the two and a half men (excluding Charlie Sheen) who demand The Gurgler’s view on the Intrust Super Cup would expect something.
It is the final round of the regular season and there are two major battles. For first between Redcliffe and Burleigh for the minor premiership (although if Burleigh lose and Townsville win the Bears could drop to third). The other is the battle between Souths Logan and Easts Tigers for the last spot in the top 6. Currently owned by the Magpies but the Tigers have the easier fixture. Souths Logan away to Burleigh and Easts at home to Mackay.

QUEENSLAND CUP ROUND 25 GAMES in 25 WORDS OR LESS
SAT 6pm CENTRAL CAPRAS v NORTHERN PRIDE
Teams “playing for Pride”, which surely means the Pride will win. Or a winning end for a much improved season for Central after just one win last year.
SAT 7pm REDCLIFFE DOLPHINS v TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS
Redcliffe Dolphins can win the minor premiership with a win. The big winners are the fans who have Timomatic for entertainment.
SUN 1:40pm WYNNUM SEAGULLS v IPSWICH JETS
A shame both of these sides are out of finals running. Should still be a great game. Away teams won the last three.
SUN 2pm EASTS TIGERS v MACKAY CUTTERS
Easts must win to finish in the top 6 and play finals. Mackay are last no matter the result.
SUN 2pm BURLEIGH BEARS v SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES
Game with the most riding on it. Possible Top 1/2/3 for Bears, Finals or No Finals for Magpies.
SUN 3pm NORTHS DEVILS v TOWNSVILLE BLACKHAWKS
Townsville could pinch second with a win. Willie Minoga starting at lock – a frightening prospect for Norths.
SUN 3pm PNG HUNTERS v SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS
Could be that these two teams play each other at this ground no matter the result this week.

PNG were well beaten by the Pride last weekend still sealed 4th position on the ladder for season’s end, which normally would mean home final. We wait and see with the QRL. They have a few more players back this week after suspensions the previous week.
