Time for the weekly – or twice a week – update on the stories and our thoughts on the best bets for the Football League. The three divisions below the EPL that most don’t care about until May. Their loss and your gain.
IN THE NEWS
LEEDS UNITED are usually never far from the news in the Football League, this time is wasn’t for bans for the owner or 5GBP Pie Tax or sacking a player because of the number 17 or something, it was for the club attempting to lock out the Sky Sports cameras due to their complaint of too many TV Games. They have a point as the TV games usually involve moving games around and the clubs earn less at the ground, however it is unlikely the Leeds owner is doing it for the fans based on his previous behaviour.
LEYTON ORIENT president was fined by the Football League for kicking his own Assistant Manager in the arse during a recent game. Apparently it was all in good nature. Or maybe is it behaviour de rigeur for Italian owners of English Football clubs.
TORQUAY, who used to be in the Football League and are now second last in the National League, have had their Seagull mascot banned from tomorrow’s game against Forest Green. Shame nothing like a naughty mascot to liven up a football game.
BOLTON WANDERERS broke a 17 game winless streak against Blackburn with their first league win since September. Somehow after just two wins and a pile of draws they are only 4 points from safety.
