Like in England, all the big leagues return after the international break, and not a moment too soon. The European leagues celebrate their own return with some excellent clashes over the four big divisions. A quick rundown on it all is below.
SPAIN
La Liga has two highly surprising teams at the top of the table as Eibar and Celta Vigo. Eibar being the most unlikely story of the lot as they were actually relegated last season, but given a reprieve after financial issues with Elche. It is early days and they are joined on 6 points from two straight wins by giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Thankfully those two teams play each other in the biggest clash in Spanish Football so far this season.
HIGHLIGHT:
ATLETICO MADRID v BARCELONA – SUNDAY @ Fan friendly 4:30am
ITALY
Similar story in Serie A as a bunch of unfancied teams top the table after just the two rounds. The teams that very few would know like Chievo, Sassuolo, and Palermo all sit on 6 points after two wins form two. Torino and Inter are some of the bigger clubs also on 6 points.
HIGHLIGHT:
INTER MILAN v AC MILAN – MONDAY @ Fan friendly 4:45am
GERMANY
Bayern Munich are three from three so far this season, what a surprise. Thankfully though their main rivals for a lot of the past seasons Borussia Dortmund are also three from three, leaving nary a drei eye in the house after last year’s flirt with relegation. Pardon the pun. Hopefully for the sake of compeditiveness Dortmund can make a real race of it not a Real race of it.
HIGHLIGHT:
MAINZ 05 v SCHALKE 04 – MONDAY 1:40am
FRANCE
The French league revolves around the PSG side and their superstars, and with their 100% start to the year, if looks like money does buy trophies if not happiness. Thankfully Zlatan is entertaining with his love of himself. But after 4 rounds it’s easy to jump to conclusions, but given the money behind the Parisian club it’s hard to see anyone overtaking them.
HIGHLIGHT: PSG v BORDEAUX
