UK Football New Year’s 2015 Edition – Gurgler’s Own Goal

Welcome to the Gurgler’s UK Football Weekly. Well not quite weekly as we only posted something a few days ago for Boxing Day, but who are we and you to complain about too much football. Another full batch of fixtures just before the FA Cup third round next weekend.

FOOTBALL - NEWS RESULTS HEADER a

Just the EPL coming up on Thursday aka New Year’s Day, so we have a short bite size (pardon the Suarez pun) tips and stuff column.

– All the taunting and praising the EPL for lack of manager action has now well and truly been blown out of the water. With Neil Warnock’s departure from Crystal Palace you could almost hear the collective sigh across the top tier of football in England, as other clubs and managers didn’t wish to be the first to chop or move.

– The Merry Go Round as it stands is that Crystal Palace will replace their sacked manager with former Crystal Palace player and current Newcastle manager Alan Pardew. This should be confirmed with time of the 3pm kick off for Palace. Talking of Palace, former boss Tony Pulis looks the favourite at the moment to be the new WBA manager after they booted out their manager a few days after Palace. Continuing on the Palace theme is that former boss at Palace a few years ago Steve Bruce, currently at Hull, may want to take the reins up at Newcastle. This will then leave the Hull job vacant which surely will be filled by someone with a Crystal Palace past.

– A disappointment for the top of the table as the big three come away from Saturday’s fixtures with a draw. The title race now looking at close for two teams at least.

– Usual movement down the bottom of the table, but there’s so much change it’s better to report on this later.
