2023 NRL Draw Analysis

NRL SEASON BY HOME AND AWAY AND ROUND

NRL TEAMS BY DAY AND NIGHT

No surprise that Broncos play half of their games on a Thursday/Friday, but just the one games on a Sunday? Poor supporters looking for a nice day game. If you’re after Sunday football then Bulldogs are your teams with more than half of their games on Sunday. Four teams don’t get a Thursday game, and given it is a Channel Nein it is no surprise that the Warriors don’t have any.

The Broncos may well turn into pumpkins with a very low % of day games in 2023. Like most dogs, the Bulldogs seem to like the sunshine. Given the mix if surf and nightlife, it’s no surprise the Gold Coast Titans are 50/50 for day and night.

We also have the 2022 results by Day to use as a guide for each team’s performance by day last season.

NRL TEAMS OPPOSITION DIFFICULTY START/END

Based on the 2022 finishing positions, there is the difficulty factor for each team for the first seven and last rounds. Although worth noting that two of the three top four sides were quite the surprise from the year before (Cowboys, Sharks).

NRL TEAMS DISTANCE TRAVELED IN 2023

So this one is a little obvious were the Cowboys and Warriors top the travel meter given how far away they are. So to provide some barely interesting stats we have offered up how far your team will travel to begin the season or end in it.

The Bulldogs ultimately get the easiest run of the season for distance traveled, but they do have to do a bit of travel early. Broncos get lucky early with a not a great deal of travel considering their location. Their new rivals Dolphins are in the top five to start their first campaign.

NRL TURNAROUNDS

So there may be an argument in fairness of which team has the lowest or highest turnarounds in between games, so here once and for all is the turnaround games.

CHANNEL NEIN BIAS

Every year we bitch and moan about Channel Nein bias towards certain teams on certain days, so we have the data below to argue with or against.

No surprise that Broncos are one of the top played teams in the 2023 NRL Draw. Local rivals Dolphins get few games less.

Of course the Warriors are last for Channel Nein games as they don’t seem to like rugby league.
